Slaying Bow Weapon Refinement

I've got myself a +Def -HP Halloween Jakob. This is his current build:

Slaying Bow+
Swap
Bonfire
Close Counter
Quick Riposte 3
Ward Armor
HP +5 Seal

What upgrade do you think would be best for his Slaying Bow? I can't really decide between the Def or Res buff.

Go def, especially for Close Counter. He can run nicely as a melee/bow/dagger duelist. That's, what, 38 defense before buffs I think?

Currently his stat spread with the HP seal is:

HP 43
ATK 47
SPD 23
DEF 36
RES 32

I would go for the new Guard Bow rather than a slaying bow. It gives DD3 and it helps a lot against ranged. If you have the Close Def seal, you can make him more hybrid.

The reason why I'm going with a Slaying Bow is because I've given him Close Counter. I prefer the lower cooldown and making him more combat oriented, rather than being a ranged defender. If I didn't run Close Counter, I would have used the Guard Bow instead.
