A Silly Pros and Cons Thing

Take one of your teams and give them one pro and one con about their performance on your team. Note, this isn’t a stats thing, just little things you’ve noticed about how your units function for you. For example, my team-

Azama:
Pro: Can take an Aether to the face from Hardin and live to tell the tale
Con: Miracle never goes off when it’s supposed to

Ryoma:
Pro: Has never met an Armor he couldn’t put a massive dent in if not kill straight out
Con: He can only dent them when it’s their turn

Reinhardt:
Pro: Great at weakening units who his team mates can’t kill outright
Con: Wrecktor

Legion:
Pro: Will attack anything with the same amount of enthusiasm and vigor as an excited puppy with a new chew toy
Con: Reinhardt is not a chew toy

————

(Legion’s was a joke. Real one is here-
Pro: Surprisingly able to take hits before dealing out massive damage
Con: Fury always gets him killed)

The team I'm currently using to clear a lot of PvE:

Marth:
Pro: buffs and heals, incredible support unit
Con: so-so in combat. So I don't use him much for that.

Felicia:
Pro: fun to use, KOs Cherche and Lukas despite their massive def and HP stats, debuffs everyone, growing wind is kind of funny and it works
Con: having issues doing enough damage. Not good when PvE units have about 50% HP than they're supposed to and Nino has her way outmerged. Even Reinhardt tends to survive two hits thanks to his mixed bulk, which is kind of funny but still sad.

Nowi:
Pro: tanks everything, sustains like a boss
Con: not too great against mages, especially when my best IV is +spd -res.

L.Hector:
Pro: Thunder Armads is cheap as heck. Throwing out enemy doubles without losing my own is an improved inverse of that ridiculous thing called bold fighter.
Con: not so great against mages and mobility issues as soon as he drops below 100%HP

Report

I'll only do 3 units cause I'll use my arena core.

Fir:
Pro: Wrath boosted Aether packs a serious punch, seriously who wants to face that blade in Wrath range.
Con: We don't have a deal with it glasses accessory. Okay actually sometimes she fails to one round dragons she baits, seen a couple Fae barely live when Fir has baited her.

Catria
Pro: She breaks swords in half like it's nothing.
Con: If she isn't fighting a sword or doubling a unit, she's not liking not killing and is very reliant on close defense for not taking a lot of damage.

Fae:
Pro: A good dargon that helps her Binding Blade buddy Fir by dealing with those nasty blues Fir doesn't like.
Con: She can struggle to handle some B!Lyn's depending on the build, and she's very reliant on baiting to do the majority of her damage.

Bonus Unit:
Pros: bonus arena points
Cons: If it's an infantry bonus unit then Catria can't run Atk Tactics :(

Saizo
+ he has incredibly defined pecs, which turn him into a defensive wall
- he dies to a single magic hit

Marth
+ Yuri Lowenthal
- none

Nowi
+ she's pretty strong
- her art is incredibly ugly (especially the damaged art)

Soren
+ owltome playstyle
- owltome playstyle

Report

Even though I made those pros and cons in a silly non-serious manner, there's still some truth to the owltome playstyle. It's strong and fun to abuse in some cases, but can be easily turned to annyoing and tedious in some maps...especially in arena where I'm forced to use dual rally skills, so positioning is kind of awkward sometimes.

Report

I recently started getting used to owltomes these past months with Katarina and Innes (sort of with his Nidhogg bow). Its definitely a fun style but I agree about the positioning being a problem sometimes with terrain or the opposing team closing in on you. They are amazing with those Bond A slot skills, I inherited Atk/Res Bond 3 to both of them from the 2 extra copies I got of NY Takumi. Just curious, can I see your build for Soren? I have maybe 2 5* copies of him I want to eventually build

Report

Yeah, pretty much. The powerspike from abusing bond skills and owl buffs is huge and if you combine those with other buffs and ally support, you get deadly results.

As for Soren, I didn't go too creative in his case, because I really like his suggested skill set (or at least the A and B skills). He works with a variety of different sets tho. Bonds are your best choice (the def increasing bonds not as much tho) and pretty much any B skill - WoM is awesome, QR and desperation work too, renewal for sustain and so on. Chill spd brings so much value to the whole team tho, so it wins the B skill battle in my case.
The only changes that I'll be making are Aether as special (because of arena) and flashing (or heavy?) blade seal to help charge it.

Sidenote: Also, that ally support is with Marth for even more buffs and wind blesssing is for his legendary pairing with Lucina who gives hp and spd blessing + that drive distant defense skill.

Report

He's +atk? His build looks great. The Chill Spd synergizes well with his tome ability while countering with the stacking speed he'll get plus the buffs from Prince Overdrive. Nice setup, he really is a Speed master. Is he your current merge project after Nowi?

Also just realized, the artist is the same one that did Leon, Lyon, and Libra

Report

Yup, he's +atk -hp, because I have yet to find a +spd version. Even if I did find a speed boon, I'd probably stay with this guy, because the amount of speed buffs that he receives is already so high (+17 spd when marth just stands next to him and gives him his rally spd/res) that 3 more base speed might actually just be overkill, because he already doubles all the +10 enemies that I need him to.

My merge things are all over the place and I don't commit to one hero only. Soren is currently ongoing alongside Saizo and Marth. I have enough feathers to safely merge them all, but lack the hero copies. I will put Soren as my showcase hero after he's finished tho. He really is godlike.

And that's a cool fact about that artist. Soren now kind of stands out like a sore thumb seeing how all of that artist's other heroes start with L.

Report

I'd stick with the +atk too. I always choose that over spd if its an option. Those speed buffs are more than enough for him on top of his owltome. I'm the same way with merge projects.. just yesterday I noticed my Mathilda is at +5 and I had completely forgotten about her because I was investing feathers into Nanna (and a little into Kagero).. I'm kinda iffy now into investing into a Berkut's Lance because her atk is still kinda lackluster, 50 with +atk iv at +10, I'd rather use that for Effie if I ever build her, and I'm wondering if I should wait on a possible legendary weapon with the current trend they've been doing with older units

Report

Mathilda probably won't even need Berkut's lance at +10. She would be even tankier ofc, but maybe slaying lance will actually be better in terms of her damage output (one round iceberg comes to mind specifically).

And yeah, it's always a gamble with those possible new legendary weapons..it kind of discourages me from investing into some units, because they might get a new op weapon and my 20k feathers + refining stuff would be wasted.

Report

I'll give it a try with my Arena core:

Hana
+ Can K.O. mostly any Armor that doesn't carry Wary Fighter, even when she is outside her Brazen + Desperation range (she becomes an absolute killing powerhouse when she falls below 75% HP), and has enough bulk and Spd to almost never be one-rounded
- Pretty frail against physical attacks and is completely screwed against Effie with Wary Fighter and over 50% HP (surprisingly, my Hana can kill Nowi if Hana can bait her out, but it takes 2 Phases to do so)

Nino
+ Can run a Gronnblade set with amazing killing potential, or a Gronnowl set to tank much better on Enemy Phase than people give her credit for, while still retaining a good amount of power and bulk on Player Phase
- Can't run both sets at once, so sometimes I forget which set she has equipped and I accidentally get her killed or find that I don't do enough damage to one-round some units (Don't do your Arena runs brain-dead, kids!)

Nowi
+ Amazing mixed bulk that can deal with stuff like Reinhardt and Bold Fighter Zelgius (without running Guard because I'm too poor to give her Guard 3)
- Dies to Brave Bow+ B!Lyn with Horse buffs (otherwise, she could avoid the quad and doubles on retaliation), though Gronnowl Nino can tank this variant and then kill her

Report

Oh no, she can tank standard versions of both Lyn and Reinhardt. The thing is that she can't tank Brave Bow variants of Brave Lyn (after Horse buffs) because Lyn can just quad her even after Nowi receives team support, proccing her Special in the process. Though, I don't see them too often anymore (still happens from time-to-time), so it's not the worst of concerns.

Report

Hmm i find it easier to kill her with brave bow since she does like 0x4 damage firing off one special, meanwhile my Nowi kills her with ignis.
Had that Lyn hone cav or not i cant say for sure, have not seen her in arena for relatively long time.

Report

Do you run Distant Def on your Nowi? I could, but another unit is hogging that seal, and I don't really want to promote a Subaki for Quick Riposte 3 to replace the seal yet. (I have Quick Riposte 2, but don't use that because of Arena scoring.)

Report

Yep, i do use DD3 on her since she is main tank for all sorts of damage, i also have goad dragons on Kana to make her even deadlier.
Also she has ally support and rally support so she is really tanky.

Report

I've seen your Hana, she looks great. And I believe you about the Brave Bow Lyn.. if you get the feathers I recommend actually 5 starring a Subaki to fodder for QR3 to her. You'll feel more complete with your dragon (even though I don't have her built)

Report

Thank you! I've used your Rhajat and Nanna, and those two are absolutely amazing. (In particular, your Nanna was the reason I could score super high / obtain the max score for the hardest Infernal in the previous Grand Conquest.)

As with Nowi, I agree that upgrading a Subaki to give her QR 3 is a necessity in the future. But, I suddenly got a lot of Effie this past month (enough to bring her from +3 to +9 despite having no extra copies beforehand) and no extra copies of Nowi, so I've mainly been spending feathers on Effie instead of Nowi--hence, why Nowi still has Renewal 3 rather than Quick Riposte 3 in the B-Slot.

Report

😎👌
The TRUE POWER of PAIN

Yes! I saw how your Effie + count has been stacking, that's great man. What's her ivs again? Did you get DC/Bold or Vengeful Fighter fodder yet (hey now's your chance to get at least one of the over powered fighter skills with that banner up, right)

Report

+Atk / -Spd

Unfortunately, no Distant Counter ywt. I'm banking on it showing up in the next Legendary Banner or CYL2. I could fodder off my L!Hector or LA!Hector, but I really like them and don't have extra copies, so I really don't want to. :(

As for Fighter skills, I'm really tempted to pull just for the last merge on Effie, but Bold Fighter would be amazing for her. I have a build planned using Wary Fighter, but I think I like her high Atk stat too much to not double with it. Against my better judgement, I cannot pull on the Fighter banner until I clear the stupid 4.75% rate on the Summer banner, pull at least one 5-Star for that matter, or cry knowing that I got nothing (still have yet to pull anything on that banner). -.-

Here is my team weakling, just for fun

Eirika
Pro greatly improves everyones performance
Con weak as hell thanks to iv

Finn
Pro can ORKOH and can quad abusing brash assault, also builky
Con sometimes hits like a wet noodle against high def enemy

F!Grima
Pro fairly tanky and hard hitting, targets res instead of defence
Con reliant on support too much, without it she can hardly do anything

Inigo
Pro great B Lyn and Rienhardt counter, can dance
Con weak against anything not blue

Report

Eirika
Pro: Stats can stack to very high levels
Con: She never f*cking comes home so i’ll never be able to finish her >:(

Fae
Pro: Balanced, hard to find a weakness when all stats are around 40 after tactics buffs
Con: Falchion. Nuff said

Effie
Pro: Tanky and hits like a truck; Even does well against mages with Berkrap’s Lance+
Con: Slow as sh#t and needs to use Wary Fighter to avoid doubles

Nanna (not in arena, for PVE content)
Pro: My only healer that doesn’t suck and can reliably run Wrathful staff, can debuff with Slow+
Con: Anything mildly sharp kills her, oh my fuckin god she fuckin dead

Cool didn't know it was possible to post a blank message.

Nephenee.
Pro: Cornerstone of my team and can 1v1 almost everything.
Con: Didn't get dc/wishblade as a refine so shes stuck at melee range.

Palla.
Pro: Jack of all trades.
Con: Master of none.

Bridal Sanaki.
Pro: She 1v1's most zelgius' in the arena for fun.
Con: Has a res bane instead of hp.

Report

Nice build and team setup. I can see she'll get up to 41 def and 37 res from the spurs if she's next to her teammates. I've been wanting to build her for the longest time but only have a 4*+10 of her. I saw this build sometime after Lene came out, I think her sword fits her (aesthetically too) but I would've gone with a +def refine

Report

Olivia
Pro: has monstrous attack capabilities for a dancer thanks to Wo Dao/Moonbow. Can ORKO super bulky greens like Hector and M!Grima on either phase.
Con: dancer bst and is merged 4*+10 so has no hope of rising higher.

Nino
Pro: is Nino, her nuking ability is practically unparalleled. Plus at a 4*+10 merge and with Fury she has enough bulk to tank blue and some green mages, and can *usually* even take a Mulagir to the face if she's at full hp.
Con: DC users wreck her before desperation is active.

Fjorm
Pro: Thanks to Ice Mirror and Atk/Def bond she makes a pretty good mixed tank, plus with her DC weapon and the QR seal she gets a *lot* of enemy phase ORKOs.
Con: Has 31 speed. Without (and sometimes even with) a speed buff she gets doubled a *lot*, and while she can survive doubles from a lot of units, they generally drop her out of QR range.

Arvis
Pro: is an absolute fucking badass. Seriously, Arvis is just the best. He has almost unparalleled debuffing abilities, incredible sustain, can facetank a hit from practically any mage and shrug it off like it's nothing, and has a monsterously powerful iceberg for when he needs to nuke something. He is the best debuffer/combat medic/res tank/secondary mage nuke that I could ever ask for. And specific to this team, he really helps mitigate Fjorm's weaknesses, because he can debuff enemies before they attack her and then heal her up afterward to keep her in QR range. Plus if there's any green mage she's feeling scared of Arvis will eat them for breakfast.
Con: Recover Ring is only worth 200 sp. I don't understand why this isn't a 300 sp skill. I could run him with the unquestionably worse renewal 3 and get a better arena weight for it, and I just don't understand. Yes, I realize my team has a lot bigger problems that could be addressed if I wanted to raise their arena weight, but Arvis is otherwise perfect and so this is the only thing I have to complain about. ;)

Report

Arena core

A!Tiki+10:
Pro: Even lance users need their special to put a dent in her. Aether lets her stay healthy and Atk Smoke lets her tank the next enemy better.
Con: Magic still takes her down, even strong greens that aren't Naga if they survive her counterattack.

Cordelia+9:
Pro: Firesweep, L&D mean she can double everything she comes across and can't be hit back. Can destroy any low Def mage that may threaten Tiki and soften up greens like M!Grima for Tiki to OHKO.
Con: No enemy phase threat, though she can still take a hit from reds.

Rhajat+6:
Pro: Can kill Reinhardt and Brave Lyn in one turn. G. Tomebreaker lets her kill opposing green tomes to save risking Tiki.
Con: If she isn't attack cavalry or a green mage, she isn't very useful apart from Rally Atk/Def

This isn't a purposefully designed arena core, simply the highest scoring units I have. Camilla will eventually replace Rhajat so:

Camilla:
Pro: Good mixed tank and excellent buffer with her refine.
Con: Would need DC to be a proper mixed tank but I like her being player phase with Swift Sparrow and Desperation.

Marth:
-Pro: Awesome support unit, destroy dragons
-Cons: Weak compared to other sword units

Soren:
-Pro: Chill atk, Owltome effect can make hima beast in battle
-Cons: Requires set up to shine

Kagero:
-Pro: With brazen atk/spd and barb shuriken she can deal serious damage and debuff the enemy
-Cons: Needs to be with HP<=70% to do her best

Corrin (f):
-Pro: She can take hit from units like effie, zelgius, ayra, soleil, etc... like those were nothing, with guard she can laugh at enemies that need specials to deal damage.
-Cons: Mages

Report

Can you post a screenshot of you Kagero? I've always wanted her to be good but I've never done anything with mine beyond getting a +Atk -HP 5*ed her with her Poison Dagger. Basically I seek proof of her deadliness to make me spend feathers on her.

Report

Legendary Ike
Pros: Can tank and two shot pretty much everything on enemy phase ...
Cons: ... except blue mages, despite being +5 Merged and my Summoner Support.

Performing Azura
Pros: Urdr. Also can kind of handle Blue melee units.
Cons: Currently -Spd and -any defensive bulk regardless of IVs.

Legendary Lyn
Pros: Hits fast and hard; has fantastic burst damage thanks to Dragon Fang + Heavy/Flashing Blade Seal. Somewhat saved by Desperation.
Cons: Has next to zero enemy phase presence. Wary Fighter is her mortal enemy.

Micaiah
Pros: Hits hard and hits the meta harder. Also has phenomenal enemy phase magic bulk, even handling Green Tomes decently well.
Cons: One hit wonder due to lowish speed, despite being +Spd. Also explodes to nearly any melee unit that looks in her direction.
