Should F2P invest in GHB units instead of +10ing a common unit?

Akariss advocated on his stream in favour of investing in every GHB unit as you go, starting by those that are the current bonus units.

The reasoning is that now bonus units are important for 2 modes - Arena and Aether Raids, and while the Askr trio is nice, GHB units get better score and usually also perform (combat-wise) better than Askr since they have access to merges.

Sure, the Askr Trio is in a much tighter rotation and you'll get faster returns for your investment, but all the GHB units are on a rotation as well, eventually you'll have all of them built - and the boost in score / performance seems to be worth it.

I actually asked the title question and he responded that (for a newish player that hasn't got any highly merged unit yet), investing and merging in the GHB units is the way to go over going for a common one.

The counterargument I see is if I get a +10 R Duel Flying Caeda or a +10 G Duel Infantry Soren, or a +10 Effie, Sheena, Marth or Triple Tactics Titania, I get a scorestick to use every week instead of once in a while - and possibly a better unit too.

What do you think about it?

You wanna know what I say?

I say just work towards +10ing your favorite characters. Ones you care about.

If you +10 a unit JUST because the character scores well or they perform extremely well in arena, it will likely not be worth it in the end. Because you don't really care about said character.
(If you actually like a character and that character can score well and/or perform stupendiously, then I encourage +10ing.)

Eh, the problem with GHB units is that they still lack IVs, and it's gonna take a pretty long while to actually get some of the GHB units to +10 (Masked Marth is the only possible 'limited' unit to max merge I think).

If people want to invest in a GHB/TT unit, then I say go for it, but it's probably better to wait until you have enough feathers and Grails to get the unit to a good merge number before starting, at least in my opinion.

Short answer: NO.

Long Answer: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,

Longer answer: Normal units are far more common and as such much MUCH easier to make 5+10 than units that you need to wait almost a full year to get 11 copies of.

Furthermore that is a shit ton of investment to do on a great number of units that wont see action outside of arena modes.

Giving aether to a handful of units is easier than giving it to everything, and cheaper.

When crunching the math it'll come down to investments of millions of feathers in order to get 20 orbs and 15k extra feathers each year.

Yes and no.

U should fist have a good +10 core from common units.

There are "good" free units. But aversa and azura are the only ones that truly shine as flexible units that can be good support as well as solid units on their own. And since they JUST came out....its just a no for making them an arena core.

You can can add a merge or two to some of the free units that are given out. So that they can boost ur score/AR wins when theyre in season. But you shouldnt waste grails on the majority of them tbh

For new players, I would say yes. They should pick 3 good GHBs (Aversa and FHTakumi came to mind as great cheerleaders that can also run Duel skills) and make them their core merge projects. Focusing on the GHBs will remove the luck aspect of the gacha, while also giving them a higher chance at having their core units be the bonus. That's a win-win situation.

People say that it will take too long to do that, but how long did it take a launch F2P to get a core of +10 units? Around 1 year? 1 year and a half? Some of my friends who started during the launch month have finished their merge project a few months ago, so it was never that easy in the first place.

For older players who already have a +10 core or have amassed a good number of 3-4*, I would say no. It will take too long for them to have the GHBs merged high enough to replace any of their core units (and even then, it might not be a wise thing to do since they have usualy low BST), so all they would be doing is investing in a bunch of bonus units that have a huge ROI.
