Shiro: My attempt at something new

The Legendary Ephraim Banner gave me a +Def/-Spd Shiro and I'm loving him. I wanna build him differently so that he's not another enemy-phase, quick riposte lance unit. I'd like your thoughts on the build I thought up for him. This is inspired from Omni H's Hauteclere Bruiser Build on Youtube, so go ahead and check him out if you have the time:

Shiro - +Def/-Spd
Bright Naginata
Swap
Bonfire
A - Steady Stance 3
B - Guard 3 or Vantage 3
C - Threaten Attack 3
S - Deflect Melee 3

I thought of this with his defense in mind, wondering if I could make a mixed-phase (MP) tank with strong enemy-phase (EP) soak potential. I also wanted to separate him from all my other EP tanks. So here's the idea.

When Shiro attacks, he's too slow to double and will likely get doubled. So, during PP initiation, he'll be able to proc Deflect Missile 3 on the counter attack in order to keep damage at the minimum in return, all while his massive defense stat keeps his survival rate up. At this point, the B-Skill could vary. I could use Vantage 3 so that on enemy phase, I'll be able to counter attack with Bonfire, or I could use Guard 3 so that Shiro can keep the enemy from building their special and he can also keep his own survival rate up at the same time.

why are you choosing steady stance as his A? I feel like that skill is more enemy phase oriented.

Steady Stance 3 is a cheap skill for me to use until I can summon for better skills. It also makes sure he can keep up an almost impenetrable defense on the enemy phase after he initiates and procs Deflect Missile 3. That "Bright Naginata + Steady Stance" combo gives +10 defense, meaning he can reach 48 Def. That's very good for Shiro to use until I can find a better solution (If there is one).

I kins of feel there's a strong space for him as a special-neutralizing wall with Guard and Steady Stance. Just let him wall and charge either bonfire or ignis, then unleash. Might recommend Quick riposte as the seal if it's open over deflect, because honestly he's not surviving many mages as is. Just let him choke a point and soak up the damage.

if you are saying you want him as a unit used for both phases, and not enemy phase, i think you should go with sturdy blow or armored blow

Pretty good idea. Steady Stance 3 is kind of just a budget skill for me at the moment. I've never pulled a Titania and I'm out of Catrias though, so I can't use Armored Blow 3 yet, and Sturdy Blow 2 is expensive atm too. Nonetheless, I'll think on this.
