Ruby Sword or Wo Dao for Olivia

Hello, everyone.

I recently promoted my -HP +SPD Olivia (I'm not a fan of merging 4 stars in the long run) and I was debating whether to give her Ruby Sword+ by promoting a 4* Stahl or sacrifice a -SPD +DEF Athena I'm sure I'm not going to use.

My Olivia currently has kind of a duelist build:

Silver Sword+
Dance
Moonbow
Fury 3
Swordbreaker 3
Hone Atk 3

I could probably manage to promote Stahl tomorrow and Olivia practically has the needed SP already (and Fury 3 gives her nice defenses so she would be very strong against greens with a Ruby Sword +), but what do you think?

Any serious feedback is appreciated.

I was planning to do some theorycrafting for Olivia and Eirika, wielding Wo Dao to its fullest potential, but Ii haven't yet.

In brief, I think there is some good potential with Wo Dao but unless you can optimize it, you'd better rely on the straight-forward power of Ruby sword.

The short version is that Olivia should be giving her turn away most of the time so you want a weapon that makes her stronger in the enemy phase. So...

Definitely Ruby Sword - it will allow her to check/counter greens which will free up your team slots to dedicate to other roles. She will be more vulnerable to Blues but most of them would be ORKOing her anyway. I run Ruby Sword on my Olivia and I think it's her best weapon.

As for Wo Dao... It amps up her burst potential but does nothing for her defenses. It's much better on high speed units running desperation who are themselves receiving dancer support. Olivia doesn't really have the defenses to take advantage of it during the enemy phase.

Thank you, I needed someone to tell me that. I already knew, it's just that the thought of spending 20.000 feathers on Stahl was painful.

I feel your pain. I have a 5* Karel, a 5* Athena, and a 4* Athena...all with bad IVs...but I have yet to find a unit that would really shine with their Wo Daos. Sword users have so much access to legendary weapons.

I agree on the Ruby Sword build. Your one red unit on the team should be checking greens, so optimize for that. Against other units, give her turn to someone else. Most of the time you just need a unit that can kill Hector through Vantage so you don't get cheesed into being unable to win.

I use a very similar build with mine. She uses
Wo Dao+
Dance
Moonbow
Fury 2
Wings of Mercy 2
Hone Atk 3

Even at 4*, she have enough defenses and speed to take a hit, and she can double a good part of the (non 40+ AI drones) cast, so the Wo Dao bonus kicks a lot.
Fun fact: I used her as leader at the voting gauntlet, and funny enough I received like 10 friend requests (I received none at the past two gauntlets)
All in all, I think the Wo Dao build can save you in some emergencies, while the ruby sword makes a more dedicated Hector check.

Unless you're wanting to seriously optimise her for maximum arena points, don't waste the feathers on promoting Stahl. Using a standard Ruby Sword on Olivia works just fine as is and gets the job done. I have the exact same build as your own (although with WoM over SBreaker) down to the IVs, and coupled with Fury you're going to double pretty much any Green unit (and consequently kill them) as is. The only major threat you won't be able to ORKO is Hector, but he in turn won't be able to ORKO YOU allowing another unit to clean up.

I put armors laying weapon on my dancers alon with tri weapon.

I tend to roll 2 heroes of same color if one is dancer since they should almost always be dancing. I usually only use them to finish off 1 shot able threats otherwise it's dance. The armorslaying comes in to help kill any armor or damage a good amount.

The Ruby Sword is what allowed me to wall the green units in Berkut's GHB while the rest of the team was cleaning house. Its defensive quality is very valuable on a dancer you presumably don't use for her sweeping potential.

What do you mean you're not a fan of 4* merging in the long run? A 4*+10 is the equivalent to a +5 5*. Do you really plan on spending over 100k in feathers to do that?

Report

If I keep playing, it could very well happen, yes. Feathers are getting easier to get by different methods with almost every update.

Also, I want to unlock the 5* lvl40 conversation anyway, especially since we can now replay them. I can also use spare 4* Olivias to inherit Hone Atk 3.

And although less importantly, it's just prettier to use 5 star units anyway xD.

I'm not telling anyone what they should do, creating 4*+10 units of heroes that usually can't be obtained as 5* directly is a good idea, especially for F2P players, but I'm just not interested because it just doesn't sit well with me.
