Is Roy a good unit?

Roy is my favorite person all throughout Fire Emblem. Thus, this means that he's also my favorite in Fire Emblem Heroes, as well. Though, there is a problem. Roy actually sucks. However, I have been lucky to get a Roy+8, and I'm wondering how that ranks him in terms of the other units, and arena offense/defense.

My Roy is a five star, with 8 merges on him, so technically he's level 48.

Weapon:Binding Blade(Refined 18 ATK, HP+5, effective against dragons, and Def/Res+4 if foe starts combat.)
HP:55
ATK:56
SPD:42
DEF:33
RES:36

SKILLS
Support Move:Shove
Special:Glacies
Slot A:Fury 3
Slot B:Renewal 3
Slot C:Threaten Speed 3
Sacred Seal: Flashing Blade 3

And my Roy has Summoner Support, S Rank.

I'd like to know if my Roy is viable compared to other units, or if I should actually use units that are ranked high in the tier list.

If you find anything that could improve my Roy, please let me know! Thank you. Oh, and my team is Brave Lucina+2, Performing Arts Azura+1, and I switch my Fell Vessel Takumi and Brave Veronica in and out for each other, if that helps at all.

Your Roy is pretty good! (better than my non-existent one).
Most of your team looks like it’s geared to support Roy, like Lucina and Axura.
Some common builds I see are double close defense, or maybe DC and either distant or close defense. At the very least replace Fury, since he’ll probably have many encounters, since he’s a tank. I would recommend a Brazen skill, and a fun combo would be Brazen def/res and wrath.

Edit: after seeing the other replies, yeah, the effect refine is WAYYYY too good to not be used. Definitely go with the QR refine.

Thank you for your reply! I was actually considering slapping Ares' Brazen Atk/Spd on my Roy, but I will try that combination if I ever get Brazen Def/Res, or a Nephenee.

Very good, but I'd change a few things. I don't want to ruin your creativity so I'll just suggest changing with weapon to his effect refine (QR5) rather than his atk refine. Maybe it'll help give you ideas so I'll post my merged boi.

Roy
+Def/-HP
Binding Blade refined (eff)
Reposition
Aether
Warding/Steady Breath
Swordbreaker/Guard
Attack Smoke
Close Defense

Thank you for your reply! So, that is very different from what I have, and I'll try to not copy your Roy entirely, but thank you for your suggestion. I'll try it, as I have like 4 bad IV Chroms and I have 9999 SP. That means I have a lot to work with. Currently, I don't have my device on me so I can't tell you mine, but as a fellow Roy user, I'd like to add you as a friend! Thank you!

Aaaa what?!

Use the QR refine on Binding Blade it's so good and it makes him amazing on enemy phase!

I'd say you're doing pretty well for not using the QR refine! Are you an offensively-oriented player? If you are I'm sorry you chose Roy because he's great but there were much better choices for characters that much prefer attacking to defending. Roy has a lot of stat points in def and res which means he won't have as much atk and spd, which are the two stats most needed for highly aggressive characters.

I had no idea Roy wasn't suited for offense! Well, I knew that, but I thought that +8 would deem his ATK and SPD good enough for Player Phase, and he's also got attack oriented IVs, which are +SPD -RES. I followed your suggestion and got the QR Refine, and I'll see how it plays out. Thank you for your reply!
