Hello, relatively new to FEH here so apologies if it's an obvious question.
I currently have a 5-star Robin(M), with a -HP/+Res build. I just pulled a 4-star Robin(M) with a +HP/-Res, and I'm wondering which I should merge into (after I promote the 4-star). How much does the stat difference make in terms of tanking ability? And it's taking me forever to get the required number of feathers; should I even bother promoting/merging in the first place? I have a bunch of other fighters that need to be promoted as well and I'm a bit in over my head.
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!
You could try dumping his Spd since he'll be doubled by most units plus Fighter skills and QR exist. Getting another copy of him should be fairly easy with the right IVs since he's a 3-4 star unit. You could even go Neutral IVs on him.
Especially since he makes use of his other stats. I personally feel like dumping his Res and HP are too risky. You could argue that he won't need his Atk if he's going for a support build as well.
Thanks for the response. I'm mostly limited to F2P so it'll take some time to grind out the orbs I still have available; in the meantime if I had to choose between the two, which would you recommend?
I'm leaning towards the +HP/-Res simply because HP helps bulk on both sides, hypothetically.
+Res is probably better it'll help against red mages and dragons. A -res would ruin his ability to tank them even with Triangle Adept. HP is kind of useless when your def/res is enough to stop any kind of damage. If you're new you should probably spend your feathers on building as many units as you can to diversify your arsenal. You never know when you'll need a good magic tank or a good healer or a reinhardt
I see, that makes sense. It does seem like choosing a -Res would make his matchups more polarizing. It would be better for me if he was able to take more hits from a larger number of heroes, rather than him potentially getting one-shot.
That's a good point about building a number of units first. Funnily enough, I just got a 4-star reinhardt, so I guess that should be my first investment.
Honestly i would just not start merging if you are new to feh. It is probably better for you to build other units that merging.
Merging is only usefull when you start investing heavily in a unit. And merging to +1 isn’t a huge difference in stats honestly.
Also your ivs aren’t too bad so I’ll keep that for now and see later
