Res threshold for DC

Just a general question... at what point do you think the res on a unit is too low to reliably run a DC build? Is it a set range, or does it depend on the unit themselves/the team their set up with? Simply curious.

Depends on the build, but, generally, I don't use Distant Counter unless the resistance "with skills included" is at least 35.

Its not really just about res. Its about magical bulk (res+ hp) which generally needs to be at least 60 and raw offensive power (ohkoing mages back) or at least high spd to avoid being doubled and doubling back with qr

This is why u see ayras running around with dc, even tho they have low res. Their mag bulk is 62 and with DD seal it can be 68 (or slightly lower due to a bane). Theyre hard to oneshot but can ko frail mages back

Hi! ^w^ This is actually a neat question because I have a regular Hector with only 16 res and Ryoma with 20 res (had to use Summoner Support to get Ryoma to 20 res). XD I give them S rank Ally support with each other, Distant Def seal to Hector, and have also been using Res Tactic and Drive res on my main mixed team. I also use color matches to my advantage. I see 20 res and up as a luxury XD I also make use of Aether and cool down bonus skills.

So really, you can make DC work on low res units, they just need some support from teammates to get the job done. If you've got a Distant Counter Armor Emblem team, they can run multiple copies of Ward armor and stack up to an extra 12 res on everyone.
