Replacing BK with Roy?

Recently I’ve been heavily investing my recourses into an arena team. Eventually I may need to replace Bk due to limited merge. The obvious choice would be tiki to go along with my Nowi +5 and Fae +5 but I messsd up that opportunity. I started a 4 star merge of tiki who is +5 and I have no extra merges.

My next best option (merge wise) looks like the original Roy, currently sitting on 6 copies. But is it worth it, considering BK is +3 and we could randomly get some extra merges eventually.

Planned Roy build (opened to suggestions)

+def -res (not popular iv but the simulations prove useful)
Blinding blade with effect
Reposition
Moonbow or Aether
Distant counter
Guard
C skill not decided or too relevant
Distant defense.

Looking for some suggestion on weather I should commit to him. I know the tier list is “just tiers” but the 3rd tier makes me weary.

Since you already have nowi and fae to take care of blyns and blue mages. Then ye hes not a bad choice. Just as long as you build him to synergize with them and patch up any weaknesses they have (falchion/naga).

Remember that tier lists take the hero on its own so with the right team comp, support and correct usage it wont matter as much that hes 3rd tier. (My noontime michalis can "solo" entire melee maps and even take on some ayras and bks, as well as some tikis if on a def tile)

Overall roy is a better investment. Bk probly wont be getting any merges any time soon. MAAAAAYBE +4 by the end of the year. But by that time....ull likely have at least a +8 roy.

And as for the build/simulator. The only thing that matters are RELEVANT matchups for your team. So focus on him being able to take on bold fighter units/ falchions, nagas, ayras and such. That build does look like a ok for this.

He's on of my favorite units to use and I use +Def -HP too. I mean it definitely works. With the DC set I'm not sure if it's entirely worth it over other DC tanks but he does offer great mixed bulk as a trade off. The problem with the Aether DC skill set is trying to get him to survive long enough to apply Aether and still maintain enough bulk. If you use Nowi and Fae DC may not be the best route but you can test it out to see if it's better. I would use Aether, Steady/Warding Breath, SwordBreaker/Guard, Atk/Spd Smoke, Close Def seal. EDIT: Yeah this would be the build to take care of the units the other poster mentioned. And if you just mean is he good, then the answer is yes. Anything tier 3 and above that isn't GHB on the tier list is good to use and invest in.
