Relay Defense...

Might actually be my favorite game mode...

How's everyone feeling about it so far?

It's, eh, fine, I suppose. I'm not totally into it, but it isn't bad by any means.

It was decently challenging to complete. I liked it a lot. Some of the enemies are just ridiculous tho and it actually forced me to specifically optimize each brigade for the last three maps. The worst one was probably a Myrrh, which had like 80hp, 72atk, 40spd, 50def and 50 res when buffed...it was on the second or third infernal map, if I remember correctly.

Report

So.. I started off really liking it. I still do, actually, but then my mood was ruined by the incredible stat inflation that IS likes to throw around as a difficulty spike.

That Myrrh ruined my day, lol.

Yeah, it gets really absurd in the later infernal maps and the fact that your heroes keep getting changed, means that you can't just cheese it with one squad. The redeeming factor is that we can use our friends' units for these. I don't even want to imagine how I would do this if I didn't have all those borrowed +10 heroes for this.

Report

I love how everything in the higher difficulties have somewhere between 70-99 HP, with even the "frailest" units having 30+ Def / Res. :/

Report

Yeah, the game mode slowly turned into a disappointment when I learned that they used their typical 'difficulty spike'.

And by that I mean inflate their stats to astronomical proportions.

Hate it because I can’t farm HM from rival domains for 2 weeks. Kind of kills my urge to play

Actually, got stuck on 4th map, it was quite frustating seeing your unit dies to inflated unit

The beginning: YYEEAAAHHH!!!
Gets to infernal 3rd map: ....yyeeaaahh....WHAT THE HELL MAN!
Not everyone has +10 friends IS. Especially when everyone has nothing but Nowis, Tikis, and Ninos.

I don't find this mode especially engaging. I enjoy setting up a position and defending it, not being forced to split my units awkwardly and having my position reset every other turn. At least I'm never expected to make any progress and I get all my units back every reset.

Report

Defense maps are a great addition to the game. Horrible difficulty scaling, though. When you can go into a map with all +10 units and still get royally screwed, you know something's off.

Report

Like the challenge, hate the fucking bad rewards, i want units for last map (or last 2), why not give us 1* of random 5*?

Report

I think this mode was inspired by that japanese guy who cleared abyssal marth with ftp.
