Reinhardt or L'Arachel ?

Both are 4*. Reinhardt is +Def/-Res and L'Arachel is +HP/-Def. Who should I promote and use ? I'm very conflicted on who to choose.
I'm F2P and in need of a cavalry mage for my horse team, preferably blue. I have a Blue Olwen but unfortunately she's -Atk.

While Reinhardt would enjoy an extra 3 points of attack, he's still very capable of electrocuting a large number of opponents without, so my vote is for Reinhardt.

I'm aware of how good he is. I promoted a Nino to 5* for the same reasons I'm considering promoting Reinhardt now. But she was optimal IVs. I'm just afraid that he'll end up like his poor sister that I rarely use because he isn't +Atk.

In most situations, Rein would be better.

However, L'Arachel does tank magic hits better

So ask yourself; Do you need firepower or a res tank?

My main horse team consists of Exalt Chrom (+HP/-Spd), Spring Alfonse (+Def/-Spd) and Siegbert (+Res/-Hp). They are all quite powerful, but their unimpressive Res is the reason why I'm considering L'Arachel instead of jumping right to Reinhardt. I want my team to be as consistent and balanced as possible, since as a F2P, I can't get too fancy with skill inheritance anyway.

Yeah, in your case L'Arachel really seems like the best pick. It'll still won't be the most balanced team, but at least you'll have something to deal with mages. With Rein, your team would be great at killing but kinda ehh in the enemy phase (with Chrom being the only solid enemy phase unit)

There's an upcomming tempest trail where you can get Finn as a free 5* unit. He might be a good pick to add to your team as well. Instead of Siegbert maybe. But that's up to you.

I need a good cavalry mage because sadly that -Atk Olwen is the only one I have. And a team without Distant Counter struggles against mage teams. But if I weren't to promote Reinhardt or L'Arachel next, I would actually consider using my feathers on a Roderick to give Firesweep L+ to Finn. His stats seem decent enough and I think that would make him an interesting unit if I end up not liking him as a Brave Lance user. I'm an average player, really. I just want to make the best of what I have.

I would choose Reinhardt because offensively he is amazing. And now you can pull easily another with better ivs.

I think his IVs aren't the worst, actually (for neutral attack, that is). 30 base Defense isn't too bad. He will be able to take a hit or two with horse buffs while I wait for a better one. And if his offensive power is still worth it, then I may promote him.

If you have the resources you should train both because they fulfill different needs. L'Arachel should be worked on first to address the dire need of a magic tank in your team. For Reinhardt, yes he will be a bonus unit for the TT so if you haven't got any units from Thracia he will be a lot of help. The ideal Reinhardt is +Atk but a neutral Atk can still work in most battles (perhaps except Arena and infernals).

If you utilize horse buffs then whatever the IV, both Rein and L'Arachel will be good (especially if you can afford a blade for L'Arachel). But if proomoting an Odin or Tailtiu just for the tome is not an option, then get L'Arachel built first (Ivaldi is fine). Whatever the battle mode, there will always be a battle which totally kills teams without mages ^^'

Unfortunately I'm not having the same luck snatching focus units from this new banner that I had on last month's Branded King, so no bonus units for me so far. Still, I ended up promoting L'Arachel first and she's proving to be as useful as I intended her to be, even with a budget build. I haven't given up on Reinhardt, though. Grand Conquests are giving a decent amount of feathers and I still have some chain challenges to complete, so I believe I'll be able to promote him before the next Tempest Trials ends. In the meantime, maybe I can get that +Atk Reinhardt, but promoting them both will only be beneficial regardless of IVs, since they'll most likely end up being my only reliable cavalry mages for who knows how long.
