After summoning from red & green orbs in my quest for Tellius alts, I got a second 4* Ares.
I've decided to replace Xander, who's been on my main cavalry team since I got him (DC sword, back then I didn't have Hector fodder) He's pretty good, but Ares & Horse Chrom are better.
So, which one is better with DC? Ares has Dark Mystletainn, allowing him to use Vantage to kill everything in Enemy phase. Horse Chrom has Sealed Falchion, boosting his stats to insane levels when comboed with horse buffs.
Here's my questions.
1. Is +Atk-Spd or +Atk-Res ideal for Ares? I've been lucky to get ideal IVs for him.
2. Which one of the two would best fit a DC set? For reference, the one with DC will be put onto my main horse team, with Gunnthra (blade tome), Reinhardt & Camus, while the other will be put onto my second horse team, with Legendary Ephraim, Cecilia, & Brave Lyn.
1. I'd maybe go for the -Res since he doesn't really need it, but with merges and buffs he can use his speed.
2. I'd go for Ares, unless you're going to give Chrom vantage too, but the DC Vantage set seems good on Ares. I personally run my Chrom with Fury&Desperation and he does fine with the set ^^
I actually just gave my +atk/-res Ares DC from a Hector pitybreaker on the festival banner. Haven't really tried him out but I imagine -res is probably better than -spd. My +2 Ares with a hone would hit 37 speed which is nothing great but it would help him avoid more doubles. And he was never wanting to take hits from mages anyway, 14 res with bane so I doubt neutral res helps him much.
Unfortunately I don't have a Horse Chrom to compare him to in regard to whose better to give DC but DC/Vantage for Ares is nothing to scoff at thanks to Dark Mystletainn. But if you asked me who I would give DC to if I had both, I would give it to Ares but I'm biased after recently beating Genealogy this year (around the time he was introduced to Heroes actually) and he was definitely one of my better second generation units in that game.
