*uses glacies with flashing blade on on a neutral spd fir*
Sure buddy way to shake up the meta, u know best.

39 with Ploy doubles pretty consistently, and this assuming she's neutral and unmerged. I went with +Res because it gives her an extra +2 Dmg to Glacies, but Spd may end up being the better choice.

A lot of the people she can double are likely tanky guys...she can kill a lot of them with a +10 Glacies. Some, even being at a Triangle Disadvantage.

Im more nitpicking that iceberg would be better for procs every turn. Otherwise u waste a charge on flashing blade.

I also do have experience with her ¬_¬. Ive given her my best fodder. Just waiting for dc and a +atk iv

I was actually thinking of a build for Lon'Qu. With the addition of Flashing Blade seal, he doesn't have to sacrifice his A slot for the cooldown reduction (and he doesn't have enough attack to really make use of Heavy Blade reliably).

Fir is a unit I actually wouldn't mind putting Distant Counter on since her resistance stat can hit really high levels, especially for a melee sword unit, but I can think of a few builds that doesn't need to utilize it.

Report

But my +8 Fir is the only character I've actually foddered DC to... And I've kinda liked her having DC/Wrath on Fir myself. She can check a lot of non-blue mages which admittedly I have far more units better at tanking blue mages than other colors, Micaiah, F!Morgan, L!Hector, Fae, Grima.

I totally understand for most people this is cheaper and can make good use of her, but I think I've been skewed on my Fir perspective since I made her my first merge project. Made me want to give her more expensive things like DC/Wrath since I'm already putting over 180k feathers into her. But now I still need to summon one more copy of her, please come home soon final Fir, please!

Well, seeing as you're someone that actually does have experience with her, it's cool you don't outright disagree with my build. My perk with DC is that I don't know of all that many characters that use it well. For starters, they'd have to be solid at mixed tanking. Usual characters like Sheena, Effie and Wendy just use it really well to their advantages, if you ask me.

Fir, on the hand...she doesn't seem to have a whole lot when you remove an A-slot. Sure, she has pretty good Res. Her Spd can be really good...with an A-slot. When you take that A-slot from her, she also has to choose between +Spd or +Res. Her Def is passable, but needs a lot (including +Def) for her to be a workable mixed tank. She just seems like a lesser attempt of a magic tank, when actual, dedicated magic tanks do that stuff better. Her good Spd & Res along with her Killer Wo Dao just seems to point her towards an awesome Iceberg/Glacies-shooting badass.

Well, from my experience with Fir (I dont have alot but Ive seen a fair share of builds/used some dc fir's in whatever the big battle gamemode is (name escapes me at the moment of writing this) I have to say that DC is great on her. Sure, Spd Ploy is cool, and Flashing blade is neat, however, I must say that due to her high spd and res pool, that she can tank mages reliably, and thus makes her a great user of DC compared to other sword unit (some units use it better than others, just gotta look around a bit). I don't dislike your build, but I sure as hell wouldn't use it. Fir is the type of unit I'd build if I had DC fodder lying around, as she adores it for many reasons.

Might I add that I don't get your, none of this DC bullshit. It's a seriously strong perk on a few units, and on her it;s exceptional for reasons I stated above, compared to the already generic Flashing Blade setup you have, which, if you have Ayra or Karla is pretty much unnecesary. But, to each his own. I'll take my dc units any day XD

Report

@Argent: And you're telling me half these builds stapling DC onto a unit aren't "generic"? I get it, Fury+Desperation isn't anything new. But as far I know, a build doesn't have to be rocket science to work. Not sure if you read my text wall, but I basically state her Res isn't all that great when you're using up an A-slot and then QR because she isn't going to be super fast to double prominent threats. If you're going to downplay her feats on my setup because the very best in the game do it better, don't get me started your logic.

I was being mostly sarcastic on my DC comment.

@Mr.Shiny: it's okay, you don't have to justify your rank for me to believe you. I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm just skeptical of DC on most units. This is specifically true on an unmerged Fir.

Report

Yeah considering my +8 Fir has 6 more merges than any other 5* unit I have I definitely have her summoner supported! Ares, Leif, Lucina, and Amelia are all +2 at 5* by just lucky pitybreakers mainly. Except Ares who I got 2 copies of his initial banner then I got a 4* copy later with +atk/-res so I upgraded him and merged my old +1 copy into him.

The thing is I don't claim to be all that good, like I'm content with just maintaining swapping between T18-T19. But using Fir as one of my main arena core alongside Catria (built to be more of a sword check) and Fae (a good blue and bow check) has been doing good for what I need, first week in T18 with them but I should have no problems going back up to T19 (rank 1,726 with cutoff off rank 20,945). So if DC/Wrath Fir perfect no, but I've liked using her this way at least. Although I feel like I almost use her more like I would Micaiah (i.e. ranged baiting or baiting a Green that Fir can handle and possibly nuking an opponent afterward with Wrath Iceberg) than I do other red swords like Mia. Again it works for me as I'm getting used to Fir with DC, but I used her with Fury/Swordbreaker for a long time and she was fine then.

One interesting interaction for PvE stuff though has been a mixed team with L!Hector alonging Fir to have 1 cd Iceberg turn 1. So she can bait and immediately throw off a powerful special on retaliation. Extra bonus if Ishtar is there too, instant Moonbow without QP. Again is this gamebreaking by any means no, but it certainly is fun and makes me actually try to find uses for L!Hector thanks to Ostia's Pulse (which also means non-armor emblem which I don't use armor emblem unless it's for a quest).

Report

Might I recommend investing into armor emblem (be it 4 star merges or otherwise)? It's extremely useful for arena T19 and T20, with the only other competent competition is dragon emblem, and even then dragons are great at baiting, with armors being extremely potent as of late. A good Sheena, Effie or Draug (yes Draug) merge project (4 star works wonders) isn't something to sneeze at IMO. Good BST with a nice set of possible skills.

Report

My thing is I'm not much of a fan of using armor emblem, and even the characters which I'm moving more and more towards using/building characters I like from the main series. It's honestly why I've replaced Nowi with Fae on my arena team, cause I don't really like Nowi (I'll still use her occasionally like in AA) but I like Fae better because of Binding Blade bias. And my favorite armors available really in game are really only Zelgius, Amelia, Hector. Which are all 5* exclusive. I like Armor March with Amelia but that's honestly about the most fun I find with armors. Maybe if Gatrie ever came to the game, maybe just maybe I'd be inclined to build a team with him. And honestly I just really don't like using Effie for whatever reason, like I use L!Eliwood over her the few times I actually use a blue armor.

But honestly my main goal with Arena is just maintaining 4 orbs (5 with the 4 wins in a row bonus) each week by not falling below T18. And Fir, Catria, and Fae seem like they can manage this fine so I'm content. Plus with these 3 I'd actually have units I'd want to merge up because I like them and not just merging for the sake of merging.

Report

I don't like using Effie either. I know she's powerful and everything, but I just.. don't like her. In fact, I never liked her, even when playing Fates. She always reminded me of that one big dumb jock that you always avoided because all they talk about was sports, except in her case it was always eating and working out.

At least she had loyalty under her belt, but my god was it annoying.

Also, why not use Guidance on your Catria (or any flier unit) for the armored unit? I mean.. I know it doesn't solve the problem of their mobility issue (at least not entirely), but it can really help them get around the board.

Report

I'll probably consider it next arena season when L!Hector is a bonus unit. But in general I just don't know what exactly drives me away from most armors but the only ones I've liked using at any point really are Amelia (I gave her Galeforce shenanigans), Zelgius (was my main DC sword for a while, now I have Fir), and L!Hector (because Ostia Pulse works nicely with mixed teams). I use Grima in AA occasionaly but his use has more been driven by "Hey another unit that can tank annoying B!Lyns if I need it."

Report

Pretty sure he can feasible switch between T19>20 like I do, and my Henry's +7...granted, I kind of need a real *5 bonus unit lately.

I wouldn't understand why you wouldn't. It's an extra 1,2k feathers that go into making extra characters.
