Raven or Linus?

Hi! This is the first time I ask a question. I am a free2play player and 20k feathers are a lot of feathers to me. Two or sometimes three weeks of hard work XD. Then, when I want to rise the rarity of some character, I take it very seriously. I have two tier 2 candidates: Linus and Raven. Being a free to play player (I mean... low budget...) who do you think I should pick to get 5 stars?

EDIT: My raven is high attack - low hp. Linus is neutral, of course.

If you plan to use him in arena, Raven would have a higher potential. If you do not want to merge him later, then Linus is the better overall unit.

Both are good candidates. How long have you played the game? If you're new, I think I suggest Raven or you can hold the feathers and decide when you feel more confident in your understanding of the game. Feathers are a very precious resource, as you seem to understand. At some point you might consider a lot of merges on one 5* character because such a character can help you through some of the hardest maps in the game and earn you a lot of rewards (including more feathers) in arena and arena assault. Raven can merge to 5*+10, but Linus is probably more than a year from being able to do the same. I'm around 3 months into the game and I'm already trying to 5*+10 merge some units.

Yeah, I have been playing for two... maybe three months... and until now, I have been unable to merge any 5 star unit. When I get 20k feathers I prefer to get a new unit, it gives me a lot of new possibilities.New teams, etc., and when I get a repeated 5 star character (it happened twice, with brave Ike and Brave lyn), I prefer to destroy it to get his abilities and that way I can make more and stronger teams faster. Of course, I am absolutely unable to beat the hardest maps or modes. That's out of my skill and units but it's ok, the game has a lot of content to play with lower difficulty.

Am I doing it wrong? Should I keep all my 5 star characters and feathers to merge?

I wouldn't say it's wrong, for sure no. I agree with your decisions to use your extra B.Ike and B.Lyn for skill inheritance; I would have done the same thing. And clearly you're enjoying completing the challenges that fall within your ability.

Merging 5* is really expensive in feathers or orbs, so it's really to be reserved for units you really, really like. I'm working on Nowi because she seriously tanks the hell out of everything when Marth is buffing her; she has even won against some Naga tomes. The other reason is the one I mentioned; I can then get more feathers to spend building other units and, if I can rank higher in arena assault, more refining stones and sacred coins a little faster.

If you have 30-40 5* characters that you can actually use (i.e. they have skills that make them effective against the challenges we're facing), then I think you're at a point where it's good to consider building some units which will get through the hardest content in the game. That will win you extra orbs and feathers. Sometimes that means merging, but not always. A lot of people clear a lot of in-game content with just Reinhardt, B.Lyn, and two dancers or some other cavalry units.

They're both really good units. Raven can take on the role of Extreme Glass Cannon while Linus can be really fast, really strong, and fairly bulky thanks to his defense and higher HP.

Out of the two, I prefer Linus, but Raven has more merge potential, so he'll give you more bang for your buck if you're planning on merging him.

beware of a typo in the second line. Linus was probably meant instead of Raven there.

Also, if I can cast my vote too, I'd give it to Linus. Sure, you can merge Raven to +10 which will make him better than Linus in the end, but that means getting 10 more copies of Raven and 200K more feathers, which is kind of a big deal.

I wish I could merge him but then I wouldn't train more characters in a lot of time. I mean, merge more than two of them would imply lots of feathers... the first time took me a month to get 20k. I mean... It does not seem like a practical way of thinking about the game for me... Maybe I am doing something wrong. Everyone is speaking about merging. There some fast way to get feathers or characters that I don't know? I use the story mode and the arena... in lower difficulty, of course, because In the harder one I am defeated really easily...

A lot of people HM Grind on GHB maps since they cost 0 Stamina, but it's not too difficult. I get about 20k feathers every... 2 weeks? Maybe less?

I don't HM Grind, though. I find that to be too tedious for me, lol.

But yeah, it mostly comes down to what you prefer. A lot of people prefer merging so they can have a better time in Arena, or they just want to see their favorite characters become the absolute best that they can make them.

And there are others that prefer to use the 20k feathers to promote more units and have a bigger roster of units that they can use, then, after finding their favorites, start making those into merge projects.

I am sorry to say that usually I am unable to win in the hardest difficulty. The medium one, yes, that difficulty is up to my range. But winning fullfilling those conditions... that's most of the time impossible to me. A lot of times I need to win with specific characters, or using blessings (I have just a few, I have not so many blessed characters to make good teams every time a new quest pop up).

Ok, I took my decision. Now is not the right time to think in merging, so I think I will go with Linus. I'll keep my raven for future plans.
