Ranged > Melee?

Do ranged units outclass melee units? I found myself using a lot more ranged nukes outside of Arena because they seem more effecient. They usually kill things and it's easier to get them out of their with WoM Dancer + Reposition.

Yep. Theres a reason why they have a bst penalty...

The answer to your question is in your question. They are superior at damage because ranged units typically have higher attack and speed stats, and typically suffer heavily in one or both of their defensive stats in direct correlation to how high their damage is. They just aren't used a lot in the arena for two main reasons. #1) Their BSTs are lower on average, and so you can't get high arena scores with them. #2) They are incredibly vulnerable and often easily exploitable on defensive teams.

Yes except against distant counter user's

In arena, no, but in single player content, yes

It really depends on the game mode and your playstyle. If you're aiming for high scores in TT for example, going all ranged may not work because sometimes you need someone to just take the melee hit and trigger the enemies to move, or kill an extermely annoying ranged unit. (*cough* Loki *cough*)

But then there is a reason why they have a BST penalty, as mentioned above, as they make life a lot easier. XD
