Quick Riposte + Aether B!Roy?

i noticed that roy's blazing durandal build in heavy blade works quite differently to ike's A slot, it DID NOT have to be initiated to be effective,
i have a +def/-spd roy so i've been wondering if roy's enemy phase could be utilized with quick riposte, his def got a nice 30 points (can be buffed up to 40 with fortify cav and ward cav )
roy can retaliate back 2 times, which means his aether will be ready in his next encounter if his attack > enemy's attack, which can easily be buffed by cavalry buff,

blow up aether and recover HP, rinse and repeat

what do you guys think?

Err. Dude. It works exactly like Ike's (sword version) A slot. I don't know what, but you're misunderstanding something here.

Umm... since when does HB require initiation? It works both on offense and defense (as long as the user of HB is the one hitting). What requires ENEMY initiation is Steady Breath.

I can't speak for Blazing Durandal, but I can speak from experience that Heavy Blade only works on initiation.

It's actually on the page too: https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/passive-skills/heavy-blade-3

Edit: Oh, I think it's just a misunderstanding. We're all talking about the exact same thing, my bad. I think he means that it also works when getting hit as well, not just when he hits.

I am curious to whether his weapon actually works on enemy hits though (pretty sure it's just normal HB though), but either way, without buffs QR is a decent defensive option for Roy since you're probably not outspeeding all that much with base 31 speed (same as Ike) unless you give him more speed.
This way he'll just be a more enemy phase oriented unit rather than player phase, he can also run DC for arena weighting and become basically Ike on a horse.
