Question of the Day: CYL 2

This one is pretty simple. I want to know what it is all of you want to see from our next Choose Your Legends! Tell us what unit type each character will be and how they'll change the game! Be wild with your predictions, or stay more grounded. The only limit is yourself!

Well I am not that creative of a person. I would love to see either Lilith appear as either a blue or colorless dragon, or Genny appear as a blue or red mage with a sheep tome.

While i admire your thought, I was specifically asking about CYL 2 units, which have, as you know, been decided.

For me, I'm trying to draw parallels from the first Choose Your Legends. The characters who won last year all (but one) used their alternate weapons, and hosted skills directly targeting the meta. In Lyn and Roy's case, they were given a movement type they haven't had before. Because of this, I see the breakdown as such:

Hector, Sword Infantry
Celica, Staff Armor
Ephraim, Lance Flying
Veronica, G. Tome Infantry

Hector being a sword unit with two movement makes him different from all his other versions while staying somewhat true to his title game. Promotion gave him a blade as well as more movement. They could easily give him an armored units BST as one of his perks for being the top pick.

Celica should absolutely be a healer. Because the past CYL made sure we had one of each color represented, and with Hector taking sword (not to mention she has a sword alt already) I think this just makes sense. Armored is more wishful thinking, because I really, really want a super tank healer!

As much as I'd like to see Ephraim wield something other than a lance, we can look to Hector and his alts and B!Roy using a sword as IS not being afraid to keep things in some kind of fashion. I actually think he will be Infantry, but I threw in flying for diversity.

Veronica is totally a coin toss. Being not only unrepresented as a playble unit, but also a unit that is an original, it's hard to make predictions. I have to assume she will be much better than the unit we battled back in Book I, but also that she will stay true to that form in being a green tone unit, which also helps us complete our color requirements.

Skills I can't even guess on. I can make up all kinds of things I WANT to see, but because I'm trying to follow reason in my response, it doesn't make sense to just start crafting crazy ideas.

What do you folks think of my predictions? Do they sound good to you, reasonable with merit, or do I sound like a loon?

I wasn't sure how the colors would be divided, but with your ideas, arguments, and reasonings, I agree to almost everything. I still expect Hector to be armored and I don't think Celica and Ephraim would get the move types you listed for them, but you said it was wishful thinking, so it gets a pass.

They could do literally anything they wanted with Veronica, tho.

They sound good and keep things varied. Definitely want healer Celica, either armour or flying, she'll be my free unit so I want her to be something good and unique. I wouldn't be surprised if Hector is still an armour and wielding Armads V4.0 with something ridiculous like grants +3 to all stats and allows unit to perform a followup attack on either phase, maybe with effective against cavalry/armour.

The only way I can see them "changing the game" is if they're as annoying to come across as Brave Lyn, or have an amazing skill to fodder like Brave Ike.

I honestly don't know. The only character I have an attachment to that won CYL is Ephraim, so I hope he's gonna be something extraordinary.

I pray to Naga that Hector is not a green armored unit. He needs a different color and a different movement type, but THREE green-axe Armored Hector's with DISTANT COUNTER as the A skill is dumb in every possible way.

I agree. The meta is also harder to read other than high BST, so it isn't as easy as saying 'Everyone is doing X, so we'll give 'em Y!'

As mad as I'll be is Hector is a Green Axe Armor Unit... Having four different Hectors that are so similar would be pretty funny.

Seeing CYL Hector having 'Armads' and 'DC' in the same sentence does not go well together.

Celica: Green mage infantry:Celica Gate brave effect for a green tome mage infantry
Hector: Armored Sword Armards: Swings his sword like armards and has some insane skill/stats that break the game because he's hector I feel hector might be the best CYL hero just cause I'm pretty sure this is correct but with hector for all we know he could be a dagger unit throwing armads lol expect him to be busted!
Ephraim: Axe cav with garm
Veronica : Legendary staff idk what her effect would be

Ephraim should totally be a lance unit, maybe armoured? With reginleif( don’t know if I spelled it right) as his weapon.
For celica, maybe a dagger unit with the golden dagger?
Hector is most certainly a sword unit of either armoured or infantry. What weapon would he use though? Was there a legendary sword in FE7 besides Durandal?
Veronica could be her regular self or some kind of innovation by the devs, not much to go on for her.

Given how the story seems to be going, I find it very easy to assume that Veronica will be Xander, but better. CaVeronica, boosts BST, using Siegfried, in honor of her fallen father figure at the hands of Surtr. They could even throw in some story mode into it with her being from another alternate reality where she turned against surtr using Xanders armament, to avenge his death.

It would just make perfect sense, ESPECIALLY when you factor in the "Brave" title, having Veronica turn from a meek little girl that hears voices into a young woman that no longer fears overwhelming might. If they did anything other that make CYL Veronica an upgraded xander I will be severly disappointed in them.

It's a perfect opportunity to meld CYL with the story without it just being some kind of offshoot, and, this is a very long stretch, if they choose to not let us choose our own freebie, but just give us CYL Veronica as part of the story as well as including her as a summonable hero, it adds even more to pad out story mode, like they did with fjorm.

Against all reason i'm getting my hopes up, and I know they're gonna let me down, They have a golden opportunity for character development, and I just know theyre gonna blow it.

How about an actual good Wrys with Pain/Slow/Fear/Gravity built into a legendary stave

Oh yea and he comes with Dazzling Staff 3 and has purple flames around his sprite art and bald head

If last year's CYL was Brave, what if they make this year's Wise? Make everyone look old, give them their own colored staves, why not?

Hector -Green Armor Axe with DC and Armads, because they had 2 chances to change that already and didn't so to do so now is just blasphemy. Probably the Old Man version.

Celica - Dagger with CC built in.

Ephraim - never played Sacred Stones so I'll just say lance unit.

Veronica - the best unit (new characters for the win!) wielding some tome.

I was thinking celica with her after end outfit and using her Ragnarok omega which would have been op but the idea of a staff celica is very interesting I think
I don't know how they will do Brave Hector but I would like an old Hector with his bear wearing his wolf beil because I don't think he will be something else than an armored axe(but why not a sword unit who knows)
Ephraim could get another weapon from this world just like brave Lucina
And for Veronica I would really like her to have a legendary tome from embla and which have some interest in the scenario( maybe bruno will do some kind of ritual or something so that she can get a power up)

PS I don't think it will happen but if they give us a legendary celica and a legendary Veronica and tell us that our cyl unit are just the legendary versions of them, I would be mad

Hector as anything but an Axe Armor. Maybe a Sword Armor referencing his ability to use Swords after he promotes? I’d also like Ephraim to use a different weapon too. Maybe a sword that references Eirika. I also have an idea of the theme. CYL1 had a theme of fathers. (Lyn and Hassar, Lucina and Chrom, Ike and Greil, Roy and Eliwood.) Maybe this CYL’s theme could be siblings. Hector and Uther, Ephraim and Eirika, Veronica and Bruno, Celica and Conrad.
