A question about close and distant defense

I was just wondering if it works if you give your character distant/close defense as an A skill and the other one as an S Seal. xD
Will the character get a +6 bonus no matter if they get attacked directly or from 2 spaces, do they neutralize each other or do only one work in this case?

They both work so it's pretty much +6 def/res whenever you're attacked

Its pretty awesome on Tana. A slot, Seal, plus Vidofnir gives her a whopping +19 defense.
