QR or Guard?

Building a Lukas and I'm not sure which one I want to put in his b slot. If QR is in his b slot I'll run double CD but I feel like overall running CD+Guard+QR seal seems a little better. What are your thoughts?

If you want to run him as a super offensive Enemy Phase unit that can proc a massive Igins bomb every round of combat, then Quick Riposte and Close Def are the best skill combinations. However, this build has no sustain whatsoever and is mostly only good for 1 or 2 rounds of combat.

If you want your Lukas to last multiple engagements, then I think that Guard + Quick Riposte might be better. He is almost always going to get doubled, meaning that the enemy could get up to 3 Special charge--up to 5 if it is running Heavy Blade or Flashing Blade--off of him, which means he could eat a powerful Special on the enemy's second hit without Guard. The >80% Guard threshold shouldn't be that big of a problem since Lukas' Def is massive, allowing him to take single digits from plenty of non-Green physical units, but having a way to recover HP (by Healer or pseudo-Healer) is going to improve this build (and the other one) immensely.

Instead of ignis try bonfire with steady/warding breath. 2 bonfires per fight is better than 1 ignis, and many units die after the first one so you take less dmg :)

The best enemy phase set for Lukas's talents would be Aether+Steady Breath+Guard+QR Seal, if you're willing to make it (big 'if' to sac an Ike, I know). Lukas can't reliably defend against middle-of-the-road speed Dragons with just 1 Close Defense skill (though he can defend against weak blue ones and red ones if they're built to proc aether upon being attacked if he has a +Res refine on any weapon and he baits them), though if you gave him Berkut's Lance, he might be able to handle them.

If a unit isn't prepared to handle at least some manner of dragons then Close Def is actually rarely the purely optimal A slot for it, unless that unit somehow has special acceleration from another skill. (Even Steady Stance[*edit*] would be better, as it'd trigger on bows and daggers.)

Actually I waa planning on giving him Berkut's Lance as after checking some calcs he's actually able to tank dragon relatively well with +refine for res. I was even thinking about using a +res Lukas just for that but I'm not to sure if it's worth. +res Lukas with Berkut's Lance refine for res and CD gives him 37 res before any buffs.

Welp that would work then. You could go unconventional with that set-up and either run Aether without acceleration, or a sustain-but-not-Aether special on Lukas, focusing on keeping Guard and QR's threshold.

You could do any boon for Lukas if the bane is speed. I'd probably not use +Res if forced to only keep one Lukas, as running CD, you're only getting to 31 Res in defending against mages.

(Albeit at +10 from starting health you could tank a doubling 61-power blue mage max as opposed to a 58-power.)

At the moment I have a +defensive -spd Lukas. I will be missing on 3 more res but I think overall it's still works out wit Berkut's Lance. Feel like aether isn't too bad since after one round of combat as he's so slow he'll get doubled by everything and with QR he'll double bringing the cooldown to 1. Infantry pulse will help out too.

One thing to consider is that armors run special acceleration on the attack, and, with Special Fighter, they have special acceleration and special chill in but one skill. The widest ranging enemy phase melee check probably still wants a breath skill if it is not itself an armor.
