The problem with Aether Raid defence wins...

Don't get me wrong, being able to create your own map and strategize with your units is something I enjoy doing a lot, but there's two biggest problems that ruin the defence part of the mode for me: Aversa and Veronica.

Aversa's ridiculous effect with her tome ruins any strategy to keep your units close, protecting them or buffing your units without a drive skill. And they'll likely give her a HP boosting A Skill and Seal to make sure she hits the threshold. You could set your units up to avoid the debuff and the Panic effect, but then your team will end up being a lot easier to bait.

And Veronica with a dancer just ends up being easy wins for the attacker since she doesn't have to worry about Distant Counter and the buffs and debuffs she gives with her staff on top of the likely Fortress (O) advantage enables anyone to take out your units. And any traps that she gets caught in can easily be sorted with a dancer as most people will never let a cavalry unit overshoot their movement and not dance her back to safety.

This is mainly based on my defence replays and pretty much every failure involves Veronica or Aversa, or both, even with a Tactics and Cavalry School in my Keep.

Does anyone else think these two are becoming an issue for defending your keep?

All that, and the REALLY unbalanced matchmaking.
No matter who I choose for defense, I'm always up against 5*+10 BS.

Even with 4* and 3* defending

Matchmaking is based on your tier not your units. As it should be, otherwise everyone in tier tier 21 could simply use one super unit and 3 level 1 units to get free wins. We don't want another arena based on bst, this is the way to go imo.

To the OP, try using restore+ and harsh command

That would be letting the Whales win, though.

Anyone who has a +10 H!Myrrh, B!Ephraim, B!Hector or God forbid Surtr, wont be touched.

It should still be based on bst for matchmaking, but doesnt contribute to score.
(Like arena assault, when you use only 1 low level unit and dont get items at the end)

I disagree, what you suggest is not viable, if you simultaneously base it on bst AND then calculate the score as a function of the BST, then everyone can abuse it by lowering their bst on purpose...

Currently it doesn't favour the whales really. It favours who plays smarter. The team you mentioned is really easy to beat btw. Armor emblem is very bad for this kind of content, defending is all about units like Veronica, Aversa, Brave Lyn, Firesweep, Blade Tomes, powerful mages with support for turn 1 specials, horses in general, dancers, etc.

All the units you you mentioned can be 1 shot by the correct counters with enough support, and since their mobility is bad and they don't move, it is really easy to position your units in order to kill them 1 by 1.

An example of how blade tomes are very powerful, my defense team has a+10 spring catria with bladetome, support for full buffs, aversa to debuff the enemy and harsh command/restore+ to remove debuffs from my units. I have several examples where my opponent thought it was totally safe to bait my Catria only to die horribly...

For example yesterday someone had a GREEN tome unit with 40 resistance and same speed as my Catria (after speed ploying her on the first turn). They moved in their unit to bait, and didn't leave anyone adjacent so she wouldn't get debuffed by my aversa. My turn started, my other units removed the speed debuff from catria and she just slaughtered by attacking twice with the equivalent of 90 attack.

I agree that Aversa's skills are too OP. She completely destroys any defensive strategy. Almost every failed defense I see has an Aversa on their team.
To combat this, they should create a new building that negates any debuffs on your units if within a certain area surrounding that building.
