Powercreep
Remember when the game first came out and Camilla was the best unit? Her movement + guaranteed doubled combined with savage blow gave her the ability to decimate teams. Heck, teams of Camilla, Takumi, Hector, and Ryoma were considered unstoppable. God forbid you ran into the dreaded 4-Takumi vantage team, or the 3-Takumi 1-Wrys team that memed the old man into the spotlight.
A lot has happened since than, a lot of powercreep. More and more units are added to the game with better skills and bigger stats. So what happened to Camilla? Well, she is still a very powerful unit, able to adapt into a variety of different roles and playstyles.
You can run a DC build that capitalizes on her high decent atk and high res, you can run her as a buffer in a mixed team, and you can still use her brave axe set thanks to one simple fact;
Powercreep can be used by all units.
Skills are inheritable. When death blow 4 came out, it was blatant powercreep, but it helps every unit focused on attack. Elincia, Alm, Roy's Girlfriend, Reinhardt (both ver.), ... , and Camilla.
I find it funny that people complain about the stagnation in Heroes, but the moment something new and monumental happens, they complain about powercreep. Hypocrisy at its best.
Without powercreep continually bringing in new and exiting units, skills, and sets, we would still be clicking on Wry's in tier 20 arena only to be greeted by 3 5*+10 Takumi's. If that isn't stagnation than I don't know what is.
FEH has managed to stay relevant, interesting, and fun because of powercreep. The continual powercreep allows for more varied playstyles and hero builds. Powercreep continues to push FEH in new and interesting ways. It is because of powercreep that we don't look back at "the good days of FEH", as FEH's powercreep continually pushes this golden age forward.
IS continues to handle powercreep in a manner that benefits all units. I see the new Fortress def/res 3 and begin to think of all the different units I want to try it on and the different builds it opens up. I recognize that its not game breaking, as it can be used by both friend and foe, and this is a varied game with a counter to everything.
I'm sad that my favorite unit, Fallen Celica, is sub-par compared to the rest of my swords, but I am happy that she will continually get better as more skills are introduced and her sets get more and more varied.
I look forward to what IS has in store for us in the future. I know that people are a bunch nihilists who will continue to complain as this game evolves and improves, but that wont stop my enjoyment as I tackle the new challenges head on and theorize different builds.
Powercreep is a good thing, change is a good thing, there is no point getting mad about it.

Your post compared the FEH to other games, and I like how you drew connections and mentioned alts. It made a very compelling point that I missed out on. My post focused much more on the hypocrisy of players. If we could merge posts I would, as I used Pathos and Kairos whereas you covered my missing Ethos and logos.

There's one thing I'd like to contest. Not necessarily disagree with, but I'm not convinced.
"I find it funny that people complain about the stagnation in Heroes, but the moment something new and monumental happens, they complain about powercreep. Hypocrisy at its best."
Who complained about def/res link? Who complained about atk/def link or spd/res link? Who complained about spd feint or def feint? Did people make such a fuss about rally up atk?
What did we complain about? Atk/res solo, rally spd/def+, 180BST, fortress def/res, blue flame, and to some extent, special fighter. What do all of these have in common which distinguish them from the examples in my previous list? They straight up cover older counterparts without the player needing to really do anything. Atk/res solo was booed because people thought "here comes atk/spd solo which eclipses swift sparrow more or less completely since units advance away from their allies to attack." Rally spd/def+ and 180 BST are just extra stats for nothing. Blue flame is just 25 damage on a 3CD special without needing to build a unit to have some stat to leverage for that kind of damage. Special fighter allows armours to have guard down to 50% HP whereas regular guard is actually very strict with its HP requirement, plus they get loads of free charges, again for no reason just like with bold fighter, which was and continues to be bad enough for allowing armours to dump spd with little cost.
Would we be making such a fuss if fortress def/res granted def+4 and res+4 or even both+5 for atk-3? That would be a significant improvement over the previous fortress skills and one that brings them up to a level more comparable to their current counterparts. It would be like bracing stance except it's active on both phases. But no. Instead, they made it +6/+6 for only atk-2 which is nearly inconsequential. Now if blow skills and stance skills want to be equal, they should also be +6/+6 at least, because they're only active on one phase. Then brazens should be upgraded to +8 or +9.
The effect of the whole thing is not much different from the obscene amounts of stat inflation we see in abyssal maps, amounts which I find offensive to the principles upon which the cosmos exists. (I'm not exaggerating for drama; I mean it.) It is a distortion and an evil.

Powercreep is not bad so long as it doesn't completely stop older units from being usefull against the new ones. I have a hard time to finding it impossible to beat certain combos now with a team that has been powered up from about 4 plus months ago where It was beating almost everything with out a heavy struggle.
I will agree powercreep is good, but I think IS needs to make sure it stays in check. If they don't want to do that, they will need to go back and spoof up the older unit's stats or skills at some ploint. There already a few units that are pretty much not play able anymore.
