Petition IS to fix Autobattle AI?

I've read some people posting about how bad the autobattle AI is, and now I can't help but agree. AI fed my LA!Lyn to a Hawkeye in stage 4 of 5 (I play autobattle with an armor core to grind SP on the level 30 map), fed Zelgius to a Heavy Spear Est and Mae (he survived, but still...), then fed Grima Robin to a Caeda with Armorslayer about 3 times. The other slot is a healer, and yes, he (I used Lucius XD) was also fed a zillion times to the enemy.

Any method to notify IS of this major flaw in the AI?

EDIT: It's stage 2 of 5 in the aforementioned difficulty and Zelgius is dead because who knows how.

A little tip: remove your healers weapon and he will die way less.

Otherwise, yeah, AI is bad and weird, but a really clever AI would make Arena Assault way too exhausting I'm afraid

Ya I have to agree, if they improved the AI for autobattle then IS would likely have to improve the enemy AI as well anyways and that would probably undo the point of improving the autobattle AI.

And even if it doesn't have to be that way, IS shouldn't be improving the autobattle AI and discouraging actually playing the game. The fact that so many people just use autobattle to get through Tempest Trials shows a flaw in TT and that it's such a grind to get through that we just want the AI to get us through it. We should be asking IS to make TT more engaging and less of a grind.

No, my Lucius's weapon is unequipped. For some reason the AI just loves leaving him in the danger zone.

And I have to agree with Heattrans about the TT being such a grindfest. I far, far, far prefer a mini TT and I completed the previous 2 mini TT without any autobattling. Getting about 7500 points a day isn't much of a hassle if you only have to do it for 7 days than 14.

About the AI balance thing, I guess you are right in that fixing the AI doesn't always be the best thing to do. Still, there is something wrong and idk how to make it work XD

As far as notifying them, I'm sure there's a few ways. You could always bomb their Twitter.

The problem is that the ai only thinks in one turn sequences. There's no if this happens, this will happen so I must instead do this.

If the ai were to be improved it would make the game less appealing to people newer or more casual. What I think would be a great change would be if you could for your units set action priorities (follow, defensive, aggressive, etc.) Additionally, lunatic and infernal settings should have advanced ai. The problem with that though, is that maps with reinforcements would be impossible for a lot of people.

I wish that the GHB battles could just have better AI with a set amount of units and good level design rather than what they are now.

Some people like the "harder" GHBs with tons of reinforcements but to me, all the GHBs that have constant reinforcements just feel like a lazy way of increasing diffculty by just throwing as much shit at us as they can.

Report

I have to agree I guess. It's very hard to clear GHBs in the early game, let alone now. My units aren't perfect and most of them are still in progress, and I will have to take whatever boon/bane the gacha throws at me.

Report

Oh I agree. Making maps favor the enemy position is one thing, but like Valter where it's just non-stop is obnoxious. Also, with their stupid hp increase, it nullifies so many skills.

Report

Just noticed that the AI prefers feeding red units than other colors in TT autobattle (I think). Switched Zelgius for W!Tharja and she is the first one to die as well. Will have to test with different units.

AI needs to be worse than the player at least or there is little motivation to actually play the game. Also if the Autobattle AI was improved, it would be silly not to improve the enemy AI as well which would result in stalemates because the enemy AI would refuse to move into a losing position.

The one thing they should do to improve AI overall, is prevent infinite drawback/reposition or armor-no-move loops. It would be as simple as: if (current turn -2 actions/positions) = (current turn -1 actions/positions), no assists on current turn & units select a new path to their target or lack there of that results in at least one space of movement.

Autobattle has sucked in every appearance it's made, this is nothing new to Heroes.
