Well, I think it's only right to want a game to be good if we have invested significant energy and perhaps money.

And what I find equally, if not more important, is the ethical issues that have come up in the discussions. I touched on it when I denounced the arena system as bogus (this thread specifically https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/q-a/updated-thoughts-new-arena-pt2-what-we-do-about-it ) and we've had some discussions recently about the exploitation of mentally and spiritually vulnerable people which has escaped the notice of most legal systems. And I would add to it the deliberate distortion of the human capacity to bond with other human beings (for example, all these expressions of admiration and attachment from fictional characters with no knowledge of who we are?) which is in itself a wrong before accounting for its effect on people who don't understand what's going on and get tricked.

A lot of practices in the gaming industry are highly immoral when it comes to their target audiences. Most of these things slip under the radar most of the time tho and it takes a lot of effort to bring them into common knowledge.

For example, the exploitation of gambling tendencies in people has been here (especially in the mobile market and f2p pc games) for such a long time and only last year, it has received some major attention (you can check the Battlefront II lootbox controversy), alongside some actual legal development which has only started very recently. Legal regulation is always ten steps behind the market and technological research, sadly.

I read an article recently saying that this game grossed 16.3 million in September 2018 alone. In contrast, The game's LIFETIME downloads are only 14 million and some. Sothere's an average spend per user in the month of September of at least $1 each, and it's probably way higher than that.

The comments section on the article was full to the brim of haters lol. One person mentioned that FE fans tend to be pretty fanatic. And even some of the "haters" said they hated the game because they loved the franchise and it pained them to see it so distorted.

Anyway this game is a great "honey trap" for IS and Nintendo. They are tapping into a gold mine of zealously passionate fans who are willing to spend bookoo bucks.
