Owl Tomes in practice?
+6 to all stats in theory sounds nice with a T formation but I haven't used any of my three owl tome users yet at all and I was curious about what everyone else's experience was with using them so far? Especially in arena/arena assault?

I pulled Mae/Katarina quite some time ago and - initially - I liked the control that Owl tomes provided. You change the outcome of many match-ups just by moving a unit a square closer... But, over time, I've found that the Owl tomes didn't perform at the same level as the powerhouses that are Blade and TA/Raven tomes. So it's one of those situations where it's a good weapon but there are a couple of far superior weapons available.
On a sidenote: I also have Boey but his IVs are awful so I haven't made much use of him.

Hm....I was afraid of that since even with assuming inhave one ally nearby it's just overshadowed by a raven or blade tome by nature alone. I was actually considering turning my Ursula into an owl tome since her attack is somewhat bad for a raven mage without cavalry buffs and I doubt I'd always have her on cavalry teams when she's likely getting used in arena assault more than anything else...

Indeed. The T formation is incredible in theory and I've pulled it off a few times... But it's quite challenging to assemble (even impossible on certain maps) and is easily worked around by ranged/flying units. Most of the time I only have one or two allies adjacent to Mae/Katarina...which helps with baiting but not nearly as much as TA/Raven.
More details: My -HP +SPD Fury Mae requires two adjacent allies to successfully bait and destroy unmerged +ATK Deathblow Reinhardt with the ATK +1 seal. Three adjacent allies aren't enough to let her do the same to the QP Moonbow variety...and that's before cavalry buffs/mergers.

I don't like Boey as an owl tome. He lacks raw firepower and resistance to fight anything consistently. I've been disappointed in him and now I'm building him as a raven user :)
I don't own a Katarina so I can't tell.
For the first Tempest Trial I've been using Mae and she was fantastic.
IV Spread was not so good (+Spd -Atk) so I couldn't build her as a blade user (+ I didn't own a spare Odin, at the time)
So I won't full Blarowl.
I was very happy with her. For the first TT, they bonus units didn't have bonus stats, yet. So she was naked and efficient.
Blarowl with a buffing + healing team.
YTiki as a DC / QR / Breath of Life + Seal of Life
Azura as a dancer / Hone speed / hone res seal
At the time I was struggling with greens so I guess I used Anna.
Both Anna and Mae used Savage Blow 3 for chipping dmg.
Anna used Reciprocal Aid to reach the HP requirement for vantage, Noatun and Vengeance.
The team was quite versatile. Mae's dmg were great when in T-formation. Most often she was just surrounded by Azura + Tiki, with Anna running / Teleporting around.
I guess it could work with any team of the kind, adding a cool Rein check.
Mae's build then :
Blarowl +
Draw Back
Glacies (could work with Iceberg)
Res + 3 (could be nice with Fury)
Desperation
Savage Blow 3

I managed to only get one 4* Boey (+atk -hp) as an owl user which I promoted immediately. I run him in a team that consists of a red physical tank, blue nuke mage and a conditional unit. In practice my best composition for him was with Ike, Tana and Delthea.
Realistic owl result is a +4 stat bonus, because it's a team that doesn't really profit from a T formation, which is pretty awkward anyway in most cases. Thanks to Delthea and Ike (spur def/res) he gets additional offensive and defensive stats which get him to some interesting numbers and such composition also works extremely well for a square formation because all the key buffs are distributed when needed.
With such composition Boey can wall Blyn, Hector, Bike and even Reintard (without hone cavalry so far) with success. Although I have to admit that this is a highly specific team, similar results can be achieved with other heroes and the nature of an Owl tome is such that you have to build a team around it, so I did.
My end goal is giving Boey a close counter, but alas, no Takumi since the release of the game. To sum it up, I found owl tomes to be much more challenging to use effectivelly and much more rewarding when executed properly than blade tomes. You just have to switch to a more passive wall-like playstyle.

I use them in my valentia mage team (Boey and Mae, together with Celica and Sonya) Owl tomes requires a lot of positioning, so they are the defensive kind of tomes, really only works on baiting
The main sell point of Owl tomes now is that they stack with spurs and support for the maximum +12 bonus to a stat, making the even the naturally bad attack Boey can kill with that much bonus and the physically frail Mae to be able to tank kill Takumi
Offensively, the tome sucks as it really restricts your movements to get the bonus stats properly
On Arena it helps Boey to kill Lyn and to some extent, Mae can tank kill Reinhardt with the bonus in Res, but it's harder to pull than just putting Sonya in his attack range

You forget Innes as physical "Owl" you could say.
The porblem with T position is you will highly not get all 3 in time.
With Innes said to be the best user with it vs Tome users because you can better manip range attacker to attack the middle of the T and to be a Hero as Colorless.
Boey would be nice for Archer/Dagger Lure actually good vs B.Lyn with a bit Inherit like Bowbreaker you will kill for sure B.Lyn.
But here comes with Physical Owl Bulk the question do you want to give Close counter and then the gamesave position vs Melee attacks are hard to reach becase most in time Physical attacker will ignore your owl and attack instead the T position left or right partner.
Then the most important point how to build a team actually with example with B Lucina Boey example could get +3atk +6 spd and with 2 more heroes with spure effect lets say example mist Spur effect 3res 3 def Boey could actually reduse dmg near to 0.
Owl team can be really funny but on other hand really expensiv with rare spur effects.
