Optimal Walhart build?

I have seen other people suggesting brazen atk/def or distant counter, but I have not seen this build yet:

Wpn: Wolfberg
Assist: flexible
Special: Bonfire (activates if enemy doubles and does not run guard)
A: Sturdy stance (Atk/Def +4 when attacked)
B: Quick Riposte
C: Odd Atk Wave
SS: Close Def

This way he has:

41 Hp

53 Atk (+4 from wolfberg, +4 from sturdy stance, +6 from odd atk wave= 67 Atk)

Spd 27 (+4 from wpn)

Def 36 (+3 from weapon, +4 from wpn, +4 from sturdy stance, +6 from close def= 53 Def)

Res 16 (+4 from wpn)

If you pair him up with L!Ephraim and L!Hector with fire blessing he will have +6 Hp, +2 Atk and +4 Def

This way you don't have to get into brazen range and lose quick riposte. Sure you lose out on +3 atk/def on player phase and enemy phase. Which build is better?

Yeah, I was immediately thinking of Brazen Atk/Def, but then forgot that the HP requirement doesn't synergize with the HP requirement from Quick Riposte.

I haven't even thought of Distant Counter, but I'm honestly not surprised that other people have considering it's probably the most thought-of skill for the A slot for melee units.

The thing, however, is that it's fairly expensive, Sturdy Stance being locked to L!Ephraim and Odd-Atk Wave being locked to Ishtar.

People are already thinking of builds for Walmart? You're 8 days early.. but that build does stand out from the rest I've seen.

I'd probably go with

Wolf Berg
Reposition
Bonfire
Brazen Atk&Def
Desperation
Odd Atk Wave
Brash Assault

haha need time to get fodder and feathers to upgrade him, so why not think about what would be good on him in advance XD

Your build suggestion looks more like a player phase version of the build I suggested. I like it :D

Yeah I was thinking of this build as well, with cavalry buffs instead.Ishtar is to expensive for me ,also if I get another ishtar I have more invested units that would appreciate oaw more.

Sturdy Stance + Quick Riposte is a good skill combo on him, but I feel that Brazen Atk/Def + Vantage is better because it doesn't require foddering a L!Ephraim, it is found on 4-Star unit, and it doesn't restrict him to being solely Enemy Phase. Most people would probably be running him with Cavalry buffs as well, so he has an easier time living the first engagement without the need for Sturdy Stance (or even Brazens). Also, he is going to be deep within enemy lines, so I don't think that he'll be able to active Quick Riposte beyond the first (maybe the second) engagement.

Distant Counter + Vantage, while probably not as good in my opinion, still has the benefit of countering Ranged units, which Sturdy Stance or the Brazen skill does not.

Personally, I still think that the Brazen Atk/Def + Vantage is going to be a better build, but I'm cheap and don't have premium fodder, so that might be a major factor in why I think so. You just need to watch out for Ranged units if you run this set.

This set is more for tanking physical melee units, any dragon or mage will probably orko him anyway, so if you position him right so that he only takes on melee he could probably use qr multiple times!
Since his role wont be to take on mages (dragons are alot better at it) he won't be needing dc if paired up with a unit that takes care of ranged units.
The problem with brazen skills is that you need to take damage for them to activate, but it is a good budget option.
Thanks for your insights!

I don't know, it sounds good, but L Ephraim and ishtar? thats to much fodder for a limited unit for me.

When I try to find the most optimal build I never look at how expensive the skills are but how good they are. There may be cheaper options, but they are not always the most optimal :D

I'm just gonna make mine where he runs off from the team and one-shots people with Atk Tactic/Hone Cavalry Support.
