An Opinion to be asked
Alright so what exactly are your thoughts on Sigurd with Distant Counter specifically? I like the idea of him having Close Def and Distant Def together to have him really tanky during the enemy phase but I also know that although Distant Counter is good, it could interrupt his B slot skill's affect, so what would you prefer and what is generally better?

I think it’s good, DC!QR would actually work wonders on him with his high attack stat, passable speed tier, and Divine Tyrfing (possibly even his ideal build). He’s actually one of the very few units who qualify for DC due to his weapon, no one else could deal with mages as well as Sigurd can, not even actual mage tanks. The only problem is that you would have to replace Crusader’s and lose the Arena rating, as well as keep a Hone Cavalry on him to avoid doubles from the faster mages since he won’t have anything to help him against the second hit.
Standing there like a wall won’t do him very good against mages and 2 range units.
Although, you could just build around his duelling potential and use Divine Tyrfing and Crusader’s as a safety net. This way, you use him mainly as a bruiser (he basically has Valter’s stats) against other physical units, but also has a side gimmick of tanking mages. It’s up to what you and your team need him to do and what role you want him to play.
If I had all the resources, I would personally go DC to make him a bigger threat against more units.

It really jut depends on how you want to use him.
(and the Iv´s)
If you want to implement him into Horse Emblem,
Distant counter is pretty amazing, and does not affect your B skill all that much, because while he is buffed (and hopefully not -spd) the only mages that are going to double him are swordbreaking red or blue mages, which you dont really see often in arena .
I would keep his B slot either way, because it lets him tank Reinhardt.
