Offbanner Gray

Hi! I tried going for Ike in the countering skills banner and got an offbanner Gray. I’m extremely glad I got him since I really like his design and he looks like a very chill guy.

The problem is the IVs he came with. Attack is one of his best boons but this one has -atk. However he’s +def as well, so I was thinking about ways to make him useful at least for Arena Assault without having to worry about him not doing enough damage.

I was considering using his standard Zanbato but I also have a spare Athena and giving him Wo Dao(and then +Def refine probably) doesn’t sound too bad since I kinda want to make up for the attack bane. I could also make him a tank with Fortress Defense. I don’t have spare Close Defense/Steady Stance fodder unfortunately(no Steady Breath either). I also thought about Panic Ploy since with a refined weapon his HP would be 46(with +effect Zanbato)/48(with the rest of the upgrades for Zanbato and Wo Dao). His special would be either Bonfire or Ignis.
I’m willing to invest in him if needed(Wo Dao at least) so I don’t have a problem with builds that may be a bit expensive.

I just gave mine a standard build.
Zanbato,Bonfire,Fury, Vantage/desperation,C skill is flexible and +atk seal( I only use him for Sword valor)
If you really want to invest into him then either make him a Cavalry slayer or defensive wall.

Horse slayer:
Zanbato(Special refine)
Moonbow
Deathblow or fury
VAntage or desperation or Wrath(Only if you really like him)
C skill is flexible
+def/spd seal

Defensive wall
Wodao+(def)
Bonfire(for faster specials)
Fury, Sturdy blow.
QR or vantage
C skill is flexible
+3 def, QR or close defense seal
(I don't think fortress defense is a good idea cause that -3 atk with that atk bane will make gray have a hard time killing enemy units but it's an option)

Yeah, Fortress Defense still can’t make him take almost no damage from physical hits, so might as well make him a bruiser instead of a full tank. I really like the defensive Wo Dao build! Thanks for your answer!
