Odin’s New Refine

We all know that Odin was probably the worst unit of all time in FEH, but how good is he with his new refine? Is he worth making him a 5 star?

He's like atleast from teir 5 to teir 3, It's because of his low atk that prevents him from going further up.

Yes he is worth it now, but he will need very heavy investment to get to his full potential.

I've tested him out, just with fury and +spd and moonbow. No merges.

He's pretty damn good. Not 'best mage in the game' Most will surpass him on offence but there are two things he does great.

First of all, his tome fixes his poor offence while providing him with 2 easy buffs. And once you have him with nice offence, you'll notice that he's pretty hard to kill

Secondly, he can give those 2 buffs to others as well. Just give Odin swap or reposition and he can give em nice and easy.

If you want to use him, I'd say pair him with L!Ike on a mixed team, give Ike dual tactics for def/res.
That way Odin has +6 in every stat, not only supercharging his offence, but also bringing his defences above 30.

He should be very... interesting. He has the easiest set-up in the entire game with arguably NO trade-off (running a positioning skill on any one unit, Reposition being a favorite of players among all assist skills) and the least chance of backfiring (as compared to Ardent Sacrifice/Desperation, etc.)(albeit, when buff-botting backfires, it can backfire SPECTACULARLY!).

His preferred B skill also doubles as a support, and he can give any unit the same buffs he has - and if his ally is a bladetome, they're basically an Odin also.

I think he's bonkers. His only "drawback" is that he has to trade hits like a normal unit (unlike most mages) because he has a preferred weapon and a preferred b skill - no Desperation, etc. He has the stats for it though. Because his bulk is HP based and evenly spread, he's also one of the best mages trading hits with dragons.

Two minor weaknesses. One is needing to run positional skills drops his scoring potential to effectively the 140-144 bin so would be extremely hard to take him into tier 21 even at 5*+10. The other is his extremely low attack makes it not trivial to proc heavy blade, but with enough support he gets there.

People have mentioned giving him Def/Res Link to let him give or receive +24 buffs, but if you aren't excited about foddering Bridal Sanaki off, running them together means when one repositions the other they both get +24 buffs which is awesome.

Report

His preferred *inherited* B skill is Def/Res Link.

Also, there's no remotely cheap way to get Bridal Sanaki to +10. You can't run an arena score Odin beside a B!Sanaki.

I love the character, with plans to 5 star him as soon as I get one with good ivs( or one at all cause I have none right now)
He certainly isn’t god tier or even that good, but he is usable and at least decently
good

I don't agree with people who say that he works like any other mage. If you ignore the atk/spd link and just play him with full tactics buffs like any other blade mage, then yes he will play, well, like any typical hyper-aggressive mage.

I'm of the opinion that if you really want to exploit this super-powerful refine, you need a specific plan for it; you need to know what you're doing and how. There are ways, but if you're going to depend on the effect refine for atk and spd buffs, you can't just flail him around mindlessly like we do with Reinhardt or with the new Celica refine.

My answer is that if you have a made strategy for exploiting this refine, then probably he is worth promoting, and if you just want a blade tome that will blast the living daylights out of everything a la Nino, you're looking at the wrong guy.
