Odin is interesting now. People will regret inheriting Brave to Cherche. Celica just became a speed demon.

He has Atk/Spd Link built-in to his refinement, which means he can also use Def/Res Link from a spare Bridal Sanaki to get +6 to all stats in one movement assist (looking at you L!Lucina). Honestly I like this niche, and his decent defensive stats make hima good user of Close Counter. He can easily get the highest amount of buffs in one go without being another movement type (flier, cavalry, or armor) or relying on Waves/Tactics.

Cherche with a prf Brave Axe+Panic Ploy is insane given her high HP stat after refinement. But I'm sad to see people regret wasting 20k feathers on a regular Brave Axe.

Celica on the other hand, can ditch Renewal and switch to Desperation builds, as she has Fury 2.5 without Def and Res and Brazen Atk/Spd on refinement, which is easy for her. With no A skill means automatic +12 Atk/Spd during combat under 80% (75% with Desperation). Add Life and Death that's +17.

One of the best set of refinements released.

Celica's refine was probably the most unnecessary refine in the game. Seriously, of all people to get the refine...? And the refine itself is just... what?

I was expecting Cherche to get a different base effect considering she comes with, what, Hammer+? Panic effect is interesting.

I've already said what I needed to say about Odin. :)

Odin is still kinda garbage. He needed something like when his special activates he gets +Oponents attack-Player Attack with a bladetome effect tbh

Report

No other infantry unit can access the same amount of buffs he has without relying on Tactic and Wave skills. Thus Reposition is always seen.

Report

It feels like putting glitter on a garbage can though. I feel like he needed more than just stat buffs and an actual way to kill people. If anyone needed this abuse your special power creep I think it'd be Odin.

Report

1. Not everything needs to be a beat stick even if there's a blade tome effect in play. He can be insanely good as a support unit now and retain some combat potential.
2. His tome doesn't have the typical cooldown penalty found on blade tomes, as is appropriate considering he comes with moonbow
3. He can kill stuff without an insane amount of investment if you know what you're doing. Your commentary suggests to me a very limited ability to the potential of anything that doesn't have the typical advantages of highly offensive units.

Since my patience is done with people who dismiss units shallowly: garbage, maybe, or maybe not, but if there's garbage around here it's not Odin.

Report

Lol wow you take things too hard. I'm just saying he could've used more than just stat buffs and a unique mechanic instead. I want him to be good comparable to the other units. Just because something is serviceable, that doesn't mean it is just as good. The prf makes him better, not good. But maybe I'm underestimating it? I just don't think I am.

Report

Calling a unit garbage is not mild. Why should I take it lightly?

If you don't think he's good, well I guess we'll have to wait and see. If we don't insist on trying to play him as though he is Nino (because he isn't), he has so much to offer to a team.

Report

Agreed, all 3 got great refinements and now can compete for team slots especially Odin and Celica.

Report

I now thoroughly regret sending home Odin every time.

Buut I don't regret sacrificing Barst for Cherche (Brave Axe+ and Reposition fodder) so I'm good.

Don't have Celica, so I don't have anything to say imo

Celica's refine I find disgusting. It's really strong, yes, but it's another step towards phoenix mode, and a really obvious one. Now it's really easy to get into brazen range and even easier once brazen is active. Anyone who knows what desperation is can pull this off; it just takes the interest out of it for players who appreciate subtle advantages.

Odin is what I find interesting. It demands creativity from the player. If you're going to offensive-reposition him, you need to find a way to get him out of danger after he attacks (unless you just give him brazen def/res and def/res link? The guy is actually pretty bulky for a mage thanks to his super-low atk, and +24 from blade tome effect means he practically has 46 atk plus 14mt. With brazen def/res he has 37 mixed defenses unmerged, which not even armours can necessarily match).

Just refined my Celica. Oh boy, does she mean business! Just think, once her HP reaches 80% or lower, she gets a +12 invisible buff in Attack and Speed...

Time to destroy everything with her!
