NY!Camilla or Palla?

In my last summoning session, the law of averages finally caught up to me and provided me with two NY!Camillas. Looking at her stats, I'm wondering if she might serve as a better Ruby Sword+ tank than Palla. The better of the two NY!Camillas has a +DEF/-HP IV, while Palla has a +ATK/-HP IV. Are the gains to speed and defense worthwhile over losses to HP and resistance?

Normally I'd say a Palla just because she's easier to merge but NY! Camilla is pretty good too. You've already got a +1 merge and her stats are better, might as well use her right?

I'm shocked this is a question. New year Camilla is head over heels better than Palla.

Definitely go with NY Camilla. Her offensive stat line is so much better than Palla, her DEF is better, and her versatility in builds is ridiculous. You could run a Wo Dao+ build with her and she would be not only a hard hitter but also relatively hard to kill.

Palla is pretty much a budget NY!Camilla.

NY!Camilla...
HP: 40 Atk: 33 Spd: 35 Def: 31 Res: 23

Palla...
HP: 42 Atk: 31 Spd: 31 Def: 28 Res: 26

From these neutral stats, you can see that Camilla has 2 more attack, 4 more speed, and 3 more defense while Palla has more HP and resistance. Now, which is better as far as the two provided in your examples, Camilla would have 36 HP and 34 Defense and Palla would have 34 attack and 39 HP. So, technically, Palla would have more attack than your Camilla (by one point) and more hp (by 3 points).

Basically...
Palla = More HP | Attack | Resistance
Camilla = More Speed | Defense

Edit: Forgot, this is, of course, without merges.

...probably should have seen this one coming. Basically, the only reason I was hung up on Palla was the slight possibility of Merric/Excalibur. This was before thinking about how often one can reasonably expect to face either one. Sometimes I think before I type. This was not one of those times.

If you wanna be technical, Palla doesn't "need" a Ruby Sword to be useful either. I've seen plenty of Palla's using the Brave Sword/Desperation build and work out with flier buffs.

Report

Which I get. I'm thinking about also giving her the Wo Dao+ (+Spd) that Palla currently has on the backburner. It's just that she's part of my Flier Emblem team, and with S!Corrin and Cordelia nuking anything not green to oblivion and S!Camilla dealing with colorless and the odd blue that sneaks past the former two, I felt like I needed something to cover green. Figured Ruby Sword+ would be a good answer.

Report

If the only thing you're really looking for is to cover green units, then Palla with Ruby Sword is more than enough. I have a 5* Palla using Ruby Sword+ and Fury 2 (didn't wanna fodder my only good Hinata that I'll build later on) and with Flier Buffs, she's fantastic at covering greens.

You could go with Brave Sword+ (or Brave Sword) and do Desperation B slot and Brash Assault Sacred Seal and, mixed with Luna, she'd do some serious damage to units outside of the green pool when she proc's Luna. She's not as good as Elincia, but she can get the job done if you don't have one.

Lol, funny you mention Elincia. She was who I was originally going to cast for the red slot on the team, but I just wasn't a fan of how squishy the team was overall...and there's also the fact that Elincia's face will never grace my screen. More of the latter. That's not a bad idea, though...
