Nowi's Weapon Refinement

Since Nowi is supposed to be a more Defensive unit, does it make more sense to refine her weapon for Def or would it be better to refine it for Res since she is only slightly lacking in that department? The current Nowi I have is +Atk -Spd

Depends on her stats and if you refine res, go with distant def seal for more bulk on the distant counter

In your case since yours is +atk, I'd actually recommend refining for Mt. Her biggest threat(Other than Julia and Deirdre who she should never try to fight) is Lucina, and with a +atk, MT refinement, Fury, and Atk + 3 seal, she can One shot even the strongest of Lucina.

I was thinking of giving her the Close Defense Seal to help alongside her defensive bulk in one-on-one battles. Would that help with the additional MT you're suggesting? I was originally thinking of refining her defense since her recommended IVs are either +Def or +Spd

I say it's up to what you want your Nowi to tank better in. For melee units and Brave Lyn def refine helps, or res refine if you want to tank mages. I also think the skills on your Nowi can help you make your judgement. My Nowi is +res -hp and has res refined lightning breath+, gave her distant def 3 seal and steady breath. She did great in the last couple days of tempest for me.
