Nowi build

Currently at Nowi +1 [-hp +spd]. Have enough copies of her to get her to +5, but is it good IV, or should I wait till +def -hp?

Looks like you're using her in an all-dragon team. Everything looks good as far as I can tell. She probably wants the QR seal, but A.Tiki needs it more and I'm guessing she is on the team. The one thing I might change is bonfire for moonbow, since the delay on lightning breath means you won't fire the special in one round anyways.

The +spd route is my uncontested preference and choice but I'm told that +def -spd is better in high-tier arena because there's so much bold fighter. I want a Nowi that can play somewhat aggressively given spd buffs and who will perform better in PvE. I know how to play passive and just bait all day, but I find attacking more challenging and interesting. This is a matter of taste; +def Nowi is perfectly playable. The advice I hear given to people with +spd Nowi for high-tier arena is to use guard to shut down the bold fighter specials. Makes sense - she should be able to take two regular hits. However, the particular setup you offered locks you in to swordbreaker, so I guess you better go +def -spd? Someone else want to pick up for me here?

I mean I didnt plan to use her in Arena, as there im usually running Ayra +3 along with Reinhard +3, B!Lyn and Nowi +3. However, if I will ever use Nowi in Arena I could give her Vantage 3 & Fury 3 along with Glimmer?

If someone else on the team can dispatch the Falchions, I would go with steady breath+aether in a hurry. I really like accelerated aether for taking on multiple opponents, especially when I can find advantageous matchups. If you don't have steady breath to give her, then yes Fury, QR if your opponents are very fast (fliers, daggers, B.Lyn, some mages), glimmer if you want to fire in one round using QR and plan to get doubled or if you want to block their double, double back with QR, and fire the glimmer on some other victim on your turn. I tend to reserve this charge-and-fire-elsewhere strategy for slow tanks like Dorcas with really weak player phase due to low speed and their skills (ex: fierce stance+QR) being enemy phase, then Ignis makes him at least a little dangerous on his own turn. As for fast Nowi, I don't know why I'm attracted to bonfire even though it's going to get slow with lightning breath.

I'm using a +10 +spd -hp Nowi as my go-to unit for everything and it works extremely well.

In most of the cases +spd with the spd refine (regulat steady breath build) will give her the upper hand against so many regular units and even other dragons, that I find it better than focusing on +def -spd and targetting those annoying bold fighter +10 armor units.

There are no dragonbreaker skills, so bold fighter is usually the only way to double her apart from the speediest sword units like Ayra which reach easily above 45 spd (but you have color advantage against those).

So generally I agree with you that +spd loses its advantages when tanking bold fighters, but I find it superior in every other matchup, especially against mages, which rarely double her, which is important, because her res is only decent when it comes to tier 20 arena.

That's precisely what I felt intuitively. Thanks for confirming from experience. I don't go for things that resemble the bacteria who survive penicillin by being dysfunctional. I'd rather give her a swappable adjustment that I can use in arena and switch out anywhere else.

Do you use a breath skill? Would you recommend QR, vantage, or something else as her main B-skill? I plan to give her summoner support, distant def, and 3-6 points of res buffing.

Definitely, adaptability is one of her greates strenghts, because you can swap her builds to help the needs of her team easily.

I'm using the extremely standard build on her, which is steady breath + aether, which is insane for PvE content, where you can usually just put her into a choke point and the enemies are just breaking themselves against her.

My basic logic is that QR is superior to vantage even if you are not using breath + aether, because it guarantees a kill. Vantage is also decent, but probably only on a fury build where you have all your stats boosted and you are using a different special. Afterwards she hits kind of hard and it's really difficult to take her down.

If you are going with distant def as a seal, I'd recommend QR as a B skill (qr 2 is fine enough).

Everything looks as I planned with the PvE slaughter. I really want a B.Ike to set this up; heavy blade aether Zelgius just isn't what I like anymore. (I play him on a mixed team with warp powder)

I've been feeling more like I should go with QR because of how fast things are getting nowadays and because she doesn't have that good of OHKO potential, nor do I really want it because it will make harder to heal well with aether, the M.Grima problem. Fury I use quite a bit, but I really don't like the recoil for anything that's supposed to tank a lot. I will give her QR3 because I plan to +10 her.

Yep, just as you say, my Nowi is +def -spd and for vaarious reasons.

I'm currently dancing between tier 19 and 20 (I can get into tier 20 but can't stay there, I still have to merge a few more times until I have the whole team +10) But that's not the point.

Reason 1: Bold Fighter
Reason 2: even without bold fighter there's a great ammount of speedy units out there who would outspeed nowi anyways.

I was lucky enought to get 2 brave Ikes in the last banner (the one with Mia and Nephenee) So I could keep the one with best IVs and inherit the steady breath to my Nowi.

Steady Breath on Nowi means Aether (that will have 6 of cooldown) will ALWAYS proc if you get doubled (alwys talking about enemy phase obviously) Nowi gets hit 6 > 4, Nowi counter attacks, 4 > 2, nowi gets doubled 2 > ready, Nowi counter attacks again (Quick Riposte) BOOM Aether.

Even with out steady breath I think -spd is the way to go, I wouldn't lower her HP, she's a great Panic Ploy user.
If you don't want to go -spd I'd choose -res, since a green mage and a lot of blue mages, specially blade tomes can one shot her anyways.

My Nowi is just as the one tagged as "optimal" here in gamepress.

You won't get two charges for aether when you attack back. It'll look more like this: You get attacked 6 -> 4, you attack, 4 -> 3, You get attacked again: 3 -> 1, You attack again: 1 -> ready. You'll still get your aether ready, but you won't be able to use it in that fight without heavy/flashing blade, which would ruin your other skills (SB and QR)

Pretty sure breath skills give two charges per action on enemy phase regardless of which side hits. That's why some people think steady breath + vengeful fighter is a waste; that's why L.Ike will counter with aether if he has QR even if he doesn't get doubled.

Well there are different possibilities to build nowi
If you want the speedy build then your Now I has the perfect IVs!

Something like
Lightning Breath +speed
Reposition
Moonbow/Bonfire
Fury 3
Qr / Vantage / Swordbreaker
Up to preference

The second option is defensive Now I

LB +def / res ( physical tank or mixed tank)
Repo
Bonfire/ Iceberg , Ingnis/Glacies , Aether
Steady Breath / Warding Breath
Qr
something

With this one you'd want -spd and either +def +atk or +res

I mean I don't have too much experience with that one since I personally run the first build but it's still perfectly good!

I just see these ivs a lot so I wanted to mention it.
-HP might be even better in my opinion cause she usually doesn't care for that loss if she isn't running panic ploy
