Non-core units struggling to keep up in AA
Since we got something like 14k free feathers on the release of tactic drills, I was able to get into the 706-714ish range in arena assault for the first time, and I was in for a new experience. I've never dealt with so many +10 units before, or even so many +5 Ayra. I got through, but barely. I'm pressing to be consistently in T19.5, which means I'm expecting opponents to get tougher.
I don't see myself backing down from merging my way into T19.5 before anything else, but once I'm there, might it be worth spending some feathers building some anti-meta units? I might need to promote some 3* to fodder their skills.

Breaker skills, gem weapons, and type specific killing weapons are a godsend in high tier AA. You don’t have to make anything special. Any 4* unit with respectable stats can become an anti-meta unit. Arthur at 4* with some merges and his base kit is capable of walling max merge Hardin and Effie.

Beyond my core team, the rest of my characters are generally unmerged and some of them are even *4+++ merges. I find my 2nd & 3rd teams fairly reliable despite not being all that strong. They contain a mix of two TA3 + Sword/Lancebreaker (Sophie & Julia, respectively), as well as a balanced set of colours.
They generally get me around. My max score tends to go between 704-710 with the first team.

Yes, due to the way scoring works, high-level arena assault is seven rounds of 5*+10 Zelgius, Grima, Hector, and Effie.
The best and not too expensive anti-meta units to build follow this pattern, armorslaying weapon (just the 4* version is fine), reposition, glimmer, triangle adept 2, and same-color breaker 2. (i.e. Swords should take swordbreaker, lances take lancebreaker.) So basically a Selena, Beruka, breaker fodder, and armorslaying fodder. Really cheap and super effective.

I'm not in that range yet, but I do have on my mind to build some units like that - Bartre, armoursmasher Olivia, pull a Micaiah sometime and give her a death blow, maybe 4* merge Oboro, ...
Most of the +10's I saw yesterday were actually Reinhardt, B.Lyn, Nino, TA+raven M.Robin (not hard to beat), and non-cliche units such as Cherche. No armours.
If the highest levels of arena are nothing but 5*+10 Zelgius, M.Grima, Hector, and Effie, the scoring system is surely stupid. That's so easy to beat when we know exactly what's coming. Why should we get the most points for lowest difficulty?
