New Weapons/Refines

Camilla's Axe - If unit is within 2 spaces of a cavalry/flying ally, grants Atk/Spd +4 during combat.

Refined Effect - Grants Atk/Spd +3 to Cavalry/Flying allies within 2 spaces during combat.

--

Yato refine - Grants stats +2. If unit is within 2 spaces of support partner, grants stats +4 to that ally during combat

--

Rhomphaia - Effectiveness against Cavalry/Armored.
Refined - Flashing Blade.

--

I dunno, I'm actually kinda... not feeling Corrin's refinement. :(

Thoughts?

This is my first time seeing corrin’s refine and I was about to unlock potential on him to see what it was. Thank you for saving me 20k feathers. The new refine is better than nothing but its not good enough to make him relevant like clair’s is. I’m glad I can finally put those 3 pitybreaker clairs to good use :)

Yeah, Corrin, in my opinion, could've used actual buffs to his stats, or a cool effect that would've helped him in battle. Instead they gave him something to help his support ally, which, in a way, also helps him to (I guess to get people to actually support him with someone?) but ultimately, at least in my opinion, it really isn't worth spending limited Divine Dew on.

And Camilla's refine is kinda odd for me. Cavalry and Flying allies gain the buff, but why not Cavalry and Infantry considering Xander, Elise, and Leo were cavalry, and Corrin was infantry? Maybe I'm just overthinking it. xD

Report

I'm thinking that the developers at IS just wanted to make more great Fliers available that aren't locked to 5-Star rarity and/or seasonal banners while giving a reference to people who played Fates.

Report

It‘s most likely a reference to her Trample skill. This skill gave her additional damage against unmounted units, so it makes somewhat sense for her to buff her own mounted allies.

Report

Miltank's refine is further puzzling considering her retainers are Infantry and Flying so doesn't match that either!

I have merged earlier a poor IV 5* Corrin into 4* one and will probably refine his Yato when I've some excess Dew but that's definitely not a priority.

Report

I laughed way too hard at Miltank. XD

Yeah, I have a 4* +3 Corrin. Can't say I'm in any rush to upgrade his Yato. I wish they went with more of an Omega Yato refinement, or something, but instead they kinda went with Alpha Yato.

Report

At least Corrin is able to fix his balanced stats. That +2 to all stats is sort of respectable. He can now have a choice to play enemy phase if he chooses his unique refine.

Same case to Camilla. She no longer needs a Slaying Axe+ fix her middling attack and speed stats. Camilla's axe grants is an effective 20 Mt +4 spd weapon when near a cavalry or flier.

Clair is still just a blue Caeda.

Oh and ready your Falchions against Julius as Julia and Deirdre won't kill him effectively due to being red.

Report

Rhomphaia is the only one I'd consider spending dew on but it's like Caeda's so I think I'll wait till I summon one that's +spd, I have a +atk Clair at 3* and while she needs more attack I don't know if it's better than spd for flashing blade effect resolving more. But even then is that a higher priority than Felicia's refine or Lilina's refine when I have enough dew? I'm almost more curious right now at what skills Julius will have.

Report

I had quite recently promoted my Clair to 5* so I'm defintely going to at least try Rhomphaia out. But I kind of like the Firesweep Lance thing I have going now. Being +Spd makes the Flashing Blade effect on the refined Rhompy attractive too, but then I'd have to put Desperation on her B skill.

It's good to have options though and the effectiveness is nice.

Report

Your lilina should be the highest priority.

Caeda (clair) and felicia dont gain THAT much from their refines imo.

Felician only really gains against amored mages and caeda can usually make do without the acceleration

I really like Camilla's refine. I'm glad I have an ideal IV Camilla at 5-Star (+Spd / -HP) already that I haven't used in a while, so she's an automatic upgrade.

Same for Clair. It's nothing new, but it's still a great refine. While I do have a 5-Star Clair, she's +Spd / -Atk, so I won't be getting her refine until I find a +Atk (and not -Spd) one at a lower rarity.

Corrin's refine is decent, but underwhelming. I was debating whether or not to promote my +Atk / -HP one, but the refine has solidified my choice as a 'no' for the time being. Still, a stat upgrade to his Yato is pretty nice vs. his Effect refine since it still keeps the +2 to all stats on top of a flat increase to one of the other stats.

Report

Corrin got the bump he deserved, nothing crazy but still pretty decent.
Clair's refinement is kinda boring, but I'm borderline interested in pairing her up with Caeda and brew up a Anti-Cav/Armor flier team and cheese a few arena defense wins here and there with.
Camilla's is interesting to me, but I'm not quite sure if changing her current role on my main flier emblem team would be the best idea since Cherche is there.

Report

I think my only gripe with Corrin's refine is that you're spending Divine Dew for +2 to your stats, which is really not what I consider to be "worth it" in the long run, but, like I stated in another post, I guess it, in a way, benefits him since it's supposed to make people stick Corrin with someone and never let them separate, but... eh

Camilla‘s Axe:
The +4 Atk/Spd is very nice and easy to set up in flier emblem. Camilla really needed some help in those areas. The special refinement however is a little underwhelming. If you‘re not using a Cavalry unit, it‘s just a worse Goad Fliers.

Yato:
A decent boost that complements Corrin‘s balanced stats. The Drive skill from his Special Refinement can be pretty devastating. When using Drive Spd and Drive Atk he can give his support partner an additional +7 Atk/Spd and +4 Def/Res, while still granting +3 Atk/Spd to his other allies. Corrin is essentially Marth with less utility, but higher Stats and a more specific but stronger Drive Skill. But I‘m a little upset that they gave Julius a dragon weakness built into his weapon but not Corrin. Corrin is weak to Wyrmslayers regardless of weapon or class, so I really don‘t get why they couldn‘t give Yato +4 to all stats and a dragon weakness to balance it out.

Rhomphaia:
This one was pretty obvious. And since Clair and Ceada have a very similar statline, Clair is simply a blue Ceada. This is a little unfortunate, since there is a lot more competition for a blue flier than a red flier.
