Well, Myrrh has higher merge potential since she's in the regular summoning pool, so if you care about merges, then Myrrh is probably the better choice.

Myrrh. Tiki can be built for Player Phase, while Myrrh is exclusively an Enemy Phase oriented unit so it's more important to have on Myrrh imo.

Even with a speed bane Tiki still has higher speed than Myrrh. It can also be patched up through stat buffs in the A-Slot like Fury and drive/hone skills. Either way if you plan to use both of them, Myrrh needs DC to reach her maximum potential. Otherwise she's basically shafted into a Melee Bait only type of unit. Sure you could still bait ranged units with Myrrh even without DC seeing as how tanky she is and you could kill them on the Player Phase afterwards but it's way less efficient.

Here's the thing. Myrrh is actually going to a Dragon Team, while I plan to put Tiki with fliers. Since Myrrh is going with dragons, she has Lightning breath teammates Nowi and Fae (A!Tiki is BoF).

Myrrh doesn't actually need Distant Counter, but it's definitely nice to have on her in many situations. She can handle many of the physical-melee units while your other dragons can handle the others that Myrrh can't handle.

With that said, Tiki can still be a fast unit, even with her bane in speed. If you wanna really experiment, Dark Breath lowers a unit's attack and speed stats by 7 (and it can be refined, AND it's an AoE debuff). This allows her to tank better because of having the opponent's offensive stats lowered. Not to mention things like Hone/Fortify/Goad/Wards.

No one's potential is being squandered, in my eyes, by not giving them Distant Counter. They can be absolute beasts without it, Myrrh being a physical wall and Tiki being a fast debuffer to help her tank.

If you're not going to be using them on the same team then its kind of up to you. DC on Myrrh will substantially boost her effectiveness as a bait unit, but DC on Tiki might let her cover for both your Flier and Dragon teams. DC+Iote Sacred Seal works both on Myrrh and Tiki to counter Archers for your Fliers but your Dragon team would be more well rounded with a Red DC dragon so having Summer Tiki fill in that spot would do nicely (assuming you're keeping BoF on A!iki of course).
