Multiple Questions

1st question: Is there a way where i can check how long i have played the game for?

2nd question: (may seem very newbie but) can someone explain the stats of a character except HP and Atk like what does Spd actually do?

thank you for your time and have a happy new year and a fantastic 2018 and a good day! :)

i dont think there's a way to see how long you've played the game.

If you click on a stat, it will tell you more about it, for example, with spd, if your unit has 5 more speed than the unit youre attacking, your unit can hit the foe twice. it also works the other way around.
Res and def just decreases the amount of physical or magical damage a unit takes.
Hope this helps!

To build off of this, you can tell a unit will deal physical or magical damage by looking at their weapon type.

Swords, Lances, Axes, Daggers, and Bows will always do physical damage, which means defense will reduce the damage they do.

Tomes, Staves, and Dragon Breath weapons will always do magical damage, with the exception of dragon breath weapons which sometimes can do physical damage if the targets defense is lower when their opponent is a ranged unit, but only if it is a weapon refined breath weapon (I.e. if you see the glowing aura around that character) (Not something to worry about though)

Also, the damage formula is really easy. It's just (Atk - Def/Res depending on damage source)*(Weapon advantage if it applies) = damage. So if your character is Brave Lyn and has 45 atk and your opponent has 20 defense, you will deal 25 damage.

1. There is not

2. Speed(spd) is arguably the most important stat in the game and in fire emblem in general. There are a few exceptions to that statment. It is what help creates doubles and prevents doubles. Doubles will occur one hero has at least 5+ speed more than the other.
For example lets say Selena a red sword unit is attacking Brave Ike. Selelna has a spd of 35 while Brave Ike has a speed of 28. This means that Selena will attack twice while Brave Ike will attack once.

Def: This is what is subtracted from the enemy's attack to figure out damage from physical attacks(swords, axes, lances, daggers, and bows).
For example lets say Laslow is defending against Palla(I am going to ignore the spd factor, but Palla would attack twice assuming both are neutral spd). Laslow has a defense of 30 while Palla has an attack of 43(31 base+12mt Ruby Sword+) Laslow would take 13 damage(43(Palla Atk)-30(Laslow defense)). Laslow would then strike back with 50atk(35 base+15mt silver sword) against 28 def of Palla. Palla would take 22 damage(50(Laslow atk)-28(Palla def)).

Res: Works the same way as def but against magical attacks(Red tome, Green Tome, Blue Tome, Dragonstones, and staffs)

I guess it's worth mentioning that the damage calculation for staves without the skill wrathful staff is different too. Instead of it being atk-res like normal magic units, its (atk-res)/2.

Report

1) sadly even i dont know that but ive started when the game came out

2)Spd is how some units can double other units, ex. Arden has 16 spd (without brave sword) and a enemy maybe has 30 spd, well because this enemy has 5 speed or in this case 14 speed more, Arden will be doubled. So a units speed has to be 5 points higher than whoever they go against to double attack them UNLESS the enemy unit has skills like Wary Fighter to prevent double attacks.

Addon: Def is used for physical attacks like sword, lance, axe, daggers, bows. Res is used for magic attacks like dragonbreaths, staffs, and tomes. So even though there is atk stat ingame depending on what unit attacks with, it'll compare that atk based on def/res value on what weapon your unit attacked with. I was guessing if you needed to know Def and Res values as well so i decided to post that to help out. Ive played fire emblem games for awhile and they had magic atk stat ->res/strength atk stat -> def. so im somewhat disappointed nintendo didnt classified units damage output on this game.
