Moving on from Heroes

I haven't posted as much here recently, but some of you might remember me from a ways back. I've been playing Heroes since launch, and by and large I've had a lot of fun with this game through its many ups and downs. Unfortunately, over the past few months I haven't been having as much fun with the game. The direction of the game since around late summer has seemed really worrisome, and the lack of quality new content to distract me from it has only made things worse.

Aether Raids was finally introduced, and for about 2 weeks it was a blast. But the daily grind of four cavalry in the right top corner of Spring Breeze soon made that mode feel like an unfun daily obligation more than the enjoyable "play through your friends' custom Fire Emblem mousetraps" I was hoping the mode would be.

The final straw really over the past two weeks has been Surtr. There's no sugarcoating it: the unit is an unbalanced mess. While beatable, his introduction feels like the dark days of Brave Lyn's introduction when you had to throw out all your existing units in favor of reworking everything around countering her. Unfortunately this time, it's even more annoying to deal with because of the restrictions of the Arena bonus system. More importantly, this is a much more difficult genie to put back in the bottle because of how much the unit scores. To make matters worse, it's not Lyn, one of the series' most popular and beloved characters. It's this awful, generic phone game villain who has basically pushed aside everyone else. I hit my limit last night when I ran into the team in the photo below (missing is his +10 Lyoma).

For now, I'll keep the game on my tablet. But it's off my phone, and I feel so much better this morning after doing it. But I wanted to take the time to thank the Gamepress community for their hard work over the last two years in providing a wealth of information regarding the game. I don't want this to be a salty farewell the way these often read, so if it came off that way I apologize. Take care all.

I'm trying GFL right now. It seems okay for a casual game. I tried SMT DX2, but that game just wasn't doing anything for me despite how much I like the SMT series. I'm probably going to spend less time with phone games though following FEH for a bit and work on my Switch backlog.

I know how you feel, especially about Surtr - He works fine as a villain for the story campaign, but he makes PVP content even more of a chore than it already was. From what I can tell they threw him in just for the quick cash grab, with little thought put into it.

PVP content already struggled to be fun and PvE content is too sparse right now, hopefully 3.0 brings some HUGE improvements, but I don't think that's very likely honestly.

Well written.

Also sad about SMT, it could have translated to mobile really well. At least you are getting one for switch soon.

I ran into a similar team. Freakin ridiculous. They pulled 33 Surtrs. I after that I re-did my Soleil with an armorsmasher build. She cuts through him like butter, but that’s one bonus unit KO I will always miss.

Out of curiosity, I just ran the simulator until I got 33 Surtr's. Total cost was 2500 orbs and almost $1400.

I am actually kind of surprised it was that cheap. I was under the impression it usually took about 1500 orbs to +10 a single unit. I have definitely seen youtube video of people whaling for a +10 where they spend about $800 for that one unit.

Imagine how much people spend to get this new god tier unit+10. He really kill the pvp fun. Sure it possible to built a counter to him (hope so). Rework all your pvp units from scrape. His bulk is solid.
