Micaiah with close counter

Does this work? I mean is she able to stand the first hit and then kill them back? Have anyone tried?

Oh my gosh please don’t give her close counter, correct me if i am wrong but she literally can’t take one phsyical hit. But!! I bet other unit can benefits from such great skills!!

if micaiah was released at launch then she would be a prime candidate for close counter because armor units were focused on def but now not so much

checked a mass duel simulator with a close counter micaiah build, it works to an extent. Quick reposte and iceberg are both pretty big as well as it relies on having a +def boon and a close defense or fortress defense seal. however, it successfully wins in enemy phase against around half the units in the game, ties with around a fifth of them, and loses to about a third of them. player phase she basically only wins against reds and armored units as usual though. I don't highly recommend this but god damn does it look fun to do. Kinda like my close counter Oliver build.

I see... Well, I don't have many CC lying around so I think I'll pass. I thought it like CC and Vantage, but it doesn't look like it's going to work out.

Report

there are very few good units for CC, don't get me wrong CC works but its nothing special. Wait for an armored ranged unit for now, who knows maybe one of the bridal units will have a great def stat.

The trouble is her speed. If she misses that one shot, she is likely going to die to most melee units that would be going after her, so she becomes a very situational bait unit, and that would primarily be slow armored units - to me that is too focused of a niche.

Close Counter is a tough skill. Either you put it on a tanky mage (which typically have poor attack and/or speed), or one of the armored seasonals, which have limited merge potential for casual/f2p players.

I actually put it on my Nino - I know she has pretty terrible defenses, but when you combine it with a def refined owl tome and Close Defense seal (also running Vengeance as a special), she actually does quite well because of her high speed and consistent doubles. Is it stronger than Blade tome? Probably not. But it has been fun to play around with!

Assuming that you going to use with Vantage, maybe, but this will mostly work against Armored/Cavalry and already damaged enemies.

She have a good attack and being blue means that this will work well against red.
She have high Res so Dragons(that most of the time are slow or not focused on PP) will have trouble to kill her.

NEVER forget that dragons causes magical damage, units with high Res don't need DC to be useful against mages, they can fight dragons and tank mage/healers while charging her specials and high Def is not a requirement to use CC, because(again) dragon do magical damage.

I prefer to keep DD on my Micaiah, but your idea is not bad.

I put close counter on my Rhajat which works pretty well, as well as vantage. So this is a similar idea, but I don't think Micaiah has the speed for it. Her def is slightly lower than Rhajat's as well. Keep Micaiah as a mage baiter and player phase armor/cavalry nuke.

Report

If in vantage range her speed wouldn't matter because she'll get killed if the first attack weren't enough. But I see your point. She survived the first hit and crushes people out with doubles. I also got a Rajhat +SPD who is I the bench cause I've got no idea or use for her.

Thanks guys for all the comments. My idea is not that crazy. Her desenfe do is terrible but I thought Thani could make her stand the shot and counter kill the armor or cavalry unit. There are still plenty of those lying around. The enters vantage range with sacrifice and with attack buffs would kill before dying to them OR stand a hit and counter kill. To secure this she would probably use atk plot instead of drive atk and maybe some breaker or Regen B skill. Maybe it will work.
