Meta-Smasher

I find myself awash in sword users and many, many merges. This Draconic Aura banner was crazy lucky for me and I now have a +9 Ares, +8 Zelgius, and a +10 Karla. I already have +10 Marth and Eirika. I am considering burning a Caeda to inherit Armorsmasher to one of these cool kids to deal with the high Arena armor-BS that is going to be swamping everyone thanks to IS releasing two broken armors in Ephraim and Hector (who already had three broken armors).

Marth is not a likely candidate as he is already there to deal with the dragon silliness at high tiers. I have a +10 Nowi to deal with most armors, but I am finding that she does not match up very well against Hector, whose Ignis proc mess her up. Obv. an Armorsmasher is not the solution for dealing with him, but it would help on a bunch of other match ups that have become problematic (other Hectors and now Ephraim, and BF Zelgius). Eirika and Ares both lose too much without their weapon.

The problem is everyone has such good PRF weapons that I hesitate to do it. The best choice seems like Karla, but I'd lose out on special cooldown and a near-guaranteed +7 damage (and she always doubles so +14). But, she would handle potentially even blue armors with her 63 attack initiation (she's +atk) and guaranteed double.

The other option is Zelgius, though I'd miss out on distant counter (a near-non factor in T21 anyway). He's Bold Fighter, so on initiation he'd likely kill any armor in those two attacks. But he also procs Black Luna real easy so is it a waste?

Anyone have any input? I might just be thinking out loud (typing out loud?). Thanks for your advice!

If it is for AA, why not use some infantry reds that have the bulk to take them on? Hinata, Ogma, and Selena come to mind. They don't need to be merged to be dedicated counters.

For greens, use the likes of Arthur, Frederick, and Bartre. For blues, slaying spears on Oboro, Lukas, and Donnel.

If talking about regular arena, you want to be feeding kills to the bonus unit anyway so you can't make use of your super units unless they're bonus units themselves.

I actually find AA easier than regular arena because to get the most points, have all your highest merge units with high scoring SP skills for the first battle and they will set the scores for the rest of the matches. Then it's all a matter of playing advantageous match-ups.

Regular arena now is all about supporting the bonus unit as best you can. At least they get TT buff stats. The rest of your units can now provide drive and dual rally support to your bonus unit. Another good strategy is use Wary Fighter on your armor units so they can soften the target for your bonus unit and not straight up kill them. Not even fighter skills on armor can double through that unless their spd is higher than yours. But drive speed can help you through that when needed, and it is a good 240 SP skill.

Blessing and Legendary bonuses still apply to AA though right?

It might be fun to get more into that some, especially now that my roster is...well its the roster of a whale who spends too much. More 5-stars than anything and lots of high merge units.

Would you just straight up use Caeda? Her atk stat isn't monstrous but I've been playing a +spd -res just to try her out, without A-skill and using def ploy 1 seal. Normally I make sure she can receive at least one goad fliers. I didn't even give her Wing Sword effect and she destroys most non-blue and even some blue armours. Now imagine I switch to +atk -HP as I planned and give her the effect refine? I don't even have merges.

I used her for a bit on a flier team and was real underwhelmed, but that was in PvE stuff mostly. I haven't used her at all since got L!Ryoma and Elincia, who don't have the armor wreckers but double everything anyway. She is one of my oldest five stars though so I would hesitate....

PvE tends to screw her because they're not all armours and stat inflation often gives them like 40%-60% more HP than they're supposed to have, which will compound her issues. Try her in the scoring range you're in when you encounter an armour team.
