Merging Reinhardt

Recently pulled a 4-star Atk+/HP- Reinhardt during the hunt for Winter Robin, but I can't decide whether to upgrade him to 5-star then merge my first Reinhardt into it or to merge the 5-star into the 4-star since I got one spare 4-star Reinhardt that I can merge into later on. Which is the better way to go?
