Is merging high quality 5* better than foddering off their skills?

I'm having trouble finding out which one I should do. I have 2 brave Ikes which I can fodder off steady breath to my dragon units like Y! Tiki, I just got another Ninan which I can fodder off for Fortify dragons, and Legendary Ephraim to fodder off Sturdy stance.

But I could also make my current B! Ike +2 , Ninan +1 and Ephraim +1... But I can't help but ask is that small stat boost even worth the long term skill use I'll get from their skills? What would you all recommend?

I recommend foddering. For someone like me, it's extremely rare to get multiple 5* exclusive units like B!Ike, Ayra (never got), Nephenee (never got), Karla (never got), etc, so I tend to fodder off any possible extra's.

If you have plans on trying to pull for more 5* exclusives, then I'd say hold off until you pull as many as you can, then decide.

Depends on how much you like arena. For top arena scorers, merges are really important, especially on Legendary Heroes. Personally, I like to let the IVs decide. If I get something better than the 5* copy I've already built up, then I'll merge. If the IVs are bad or just meh, I'll fodder them off.

B!Ike is amazing fodder. I've been lucky to get several, and I've foddered Steady Breath to all my dragons. I don't regret that decision in the slightest.

Even if you're worried about arena scoring, getting a Nowi/A! Tiki to +10 is better for arena score than a B!Ike +2, and Nowi can't really perform at that top tier without Steady Breath imo.

So, I think you're better off foddering extras when it's useful.

5* merging is for units that you really love, love love, regardless of whether they are 5* exclusive or not. It will cost you months of feathers or even more months of orbs, depending on how smart you are with your summoning and how well RNG treats you.

By the way, sturdy stance is very hard to prefer over atk/def bond because it's not so hard to position for enemy phase and you now get 1 more point to each stat, plus it works on player phase for those few cases where you want to use it on player phase. I don't think L.Ephraim has fodder value, so for that reason I would merge him specifically.
