Merge/Inherit/Keep? (New Player)

Hi Guys
I started about 2 weeks ago and I’m enjoying the game. I’m not sure, but I feel like I have been pretty lucky with my pulls, however I am am a little overwhelmed. I haven’t done any merging and barely any skill inheritance. I bought the starter pack but don’t plan on spending anymore money. Here is a pic of my 5* roster. Also are duplicates worth keeping for events?

2 weeks? Are you sure? *squints at Black Knight*
I'm finding it hard to believe that you're this lucky xD (this is coming from an unlucky person)
Anyway, welcome! And yes, always keep duplicates whenever you can. Some (like your extra B!Hectors) have good skills to inherit. You can always merge them, but since you're new I think you should hold on to them for now. Gamepress is also useful for figuring out builds for units if you're not sure, too.

Yeah 2-3 weeks, I downloaded the game when my uni classes started because I had a good 2 hours between classes. I got lucky and pulled 2 B-Hectors and a Celica. I was really tempted to make a +2 hector, but ill hold off.

Good idea. His Bold Fighter is one of the best skills in the game and a lot of armored units would appreciate it. Have you considered IVs? What are the stats of each B!Hector?
I'm asking this because you probably don't want to fodder off a +Atk B!Hector or something.

Keep Fjorm as she is one of the 4 revolving arena units. Build up your Red Ike, Hector, and Ephraim.

Hi, welcome to the game.
For now, while you get your bearings, I suggest not to merge or fodder stuff and to hoard feathers. Once you start developing a sense of what's going on (and update 3.0 may make this quite confusing, we don't know yet) you can start making longer-term plans and investing resources.

Yeah, I feel like that's a mistake I made. I promoted rein because people said he was good, and then promoted all the dragon girls when I pulled Kana. I was thinking about promoting chrom to fuse aether onto ephraim.

Report

Promoting Reinhardt can hardly be a mistake. I don't even have +atk and he's done a lot for me.

Dragons are maybe a small misstep because they're relatively high investment, which makes them relatively unsuitable for newer players unless you went hard for B.Ike on the new player hero fest banner.

IMO, steady breath Nowi is a bit of a meme build at this point. Any unit with built in distant counter, decent mixed bulk, and adaptive damage is a good use of 20k feathers. She can run fury and Luna, and be totally capable in player hands. You don't need to have Aether and steady breath on a dragon to make them worthwhile.

Report

Ok good point. In short maps aether is unnecessary or even suboptimal because ignis is deadlier and bonfire activates without getting doubled despite lightning breath penalty if you use a breath skill. And go with QR2 unless intending on long-term investment because it's busted on the fury recoil anyways

Okay, last question. Should I try to merge into rein? I have a +Atk/-Res and a +Atk/-Hp. Which of the 2 is better and is this a good feather investment? Thanks for everyone’s responses by the way.

Report

Again, can hardly be a mistake if the first one you promoted doesn't have +atk. You gain 4 points of attack (3 from the boon, 1 from the first merge) which can actually make a significant difference for where his atk is sitting. I don't have +atk and it does matter sometimes.

Holy crap I was never this lucky when I started (or ever) lol. Definitely keep the extras for now and turn them into Combat Manuals. That way you can save space and still keep the units for merge/fodder. If you find you like using those units with the extras, like you use them on every map basically, merge. If you don't use them frequently, keep them for good skills like Bold Fighter, Swift Sparrow, and DB4.
