Melee duelist Leif

Hi! Today, after reaching 4,50% pity rate I finally got Leif. The problem is he has the exact opposite IVs as I wanted(+Res -spd) but I still want to use him. My build for him was going to be +Spd Slaying Edge/Fury/S Drink. This means he still has 41 speed even with a bane and I was planning to use Bonfire/Luna as special(1-turn special looks really good to me), but I’m also considering Speed Ploy to make up for the bane, or Attack Ploy+Close Defense seal to make him a tank. I know 29 Res is not really high but it’s high enough to proc Ploys against most melees. What are your thoughts? Make up for the bane and try to be as fast as possible, try to make him a tank or just use Drive Attack? Thanks in advance!

The wonderful thing about Leif is that even with a speed bane, he can still be a fast unit. The only thing is the ploy, although that mostly comes to preference. I can't, within good conscience, use a Ploy skill on a unit that has less than 32 resistance, but if you feel like it's enough, then go ahead. I would have to ask, however, about your team composition. Is Leif the only unit you have on the team that's close to a mage tank, or do you have anyone else that can you Spd Ploy?

Well I use Micaiah in my team so she could use the Speed Ploy and run the new Drive attack seal(she already has Drive attack+Hone Speed seal). I am considering just running Threaten Speed though, since he’s not gonna be facing ranged units and it’s quite easier to use against melees, which are the main units he’s gonna face.

Do you think this is more effective? It’s also cheaper and it can work just as well.

I'd say go for it. Micaiah is a much more reliable ploy user, and if Leif is only facing melee units anyway, then a Threaten skill is a good skill to go with.
