Math is Hard - Help?

My buddy is trying to build Soren up right and wants me to determine Soren’s IVs if he has any, which would be fine, except I’m perplexed on how to solve, since Soren is level 4 with a +1 merge.
He’s 4*, equipped with Rexcalibur:

HP 18
Atk 17
Spd 12
Def 5
Res 7

From what I can tell he wants to build Soren around Watersweep. Any suggestions?

You can only check the IV's of units if they are lvl 40 or lvl 1. It doesn't randomize the base stats or the final stats (besides IV's) but it does randomize in which order you gain the stats, so you can't tell their IV's if they are any level between 2 and 39.

This is wrong. Look up any character on gamepedia, and on their site you will find a link to another page on their site, listing every possible IV's from level 1-40. Please do not spread misinformation.

I compared your stats to the stat chart easily accessible on gamepedia. Just look up Soren, and then you will find a link to his stat chart from level 1-40, at all of his rarities (You will have to scroll down to find his 4* chart). I am including a picture of what I used to determine his stats below. I took into account his +1 merge as well, which gave +1hp and +1spd.
