Maribelle pronunciation?

Why does everyone pronounce Maribelle's name as merry-bell? Even Feh says it like that. Is it not just mare(like fare)-a-bell or mare-i(like Inigo)-bell? IIRC, that's how Lissa said it in Awakening. I've been watching FEH-tubers and it's seriously triggering me (joking not joking).

Do you guys know which is technically the correct pronunciation, even though we all know screaming at your phone screen for what sounds like a Christmas ornament to appear is just ridiculous?

The version that bothers you is the way most English speakers will find most natural with this name, which seems (to a FSL) very much to have French etymology. The French would pronounce the a with a bright /a/ that isn't found in most accents of English.

Funny thing is, I was born in Cali and have lived here my whole life. I probably have the most stereotypical American accent imaginable. Merrybell still sounds stupid to me. XD

Quite understandable when it makes you think of her as a Christmas ornament haha
