Linde and Merric new weapons.

So... First of all, what is Merric's new weapon? I don't have a 5* Merric and I really want to know...

Second, I'm really surprised by Linde's Aura refinement. I expected it to add something to her weapon's effect, not change it completely. Has IS ever done something like this before? Still, her synergy with Blade Tomes is amazing. I might build a Nino to pair with her in the future.

By the way... When the weapon description says "adjacent magic and staff allies" it's referring specifically to tome and staff users, right? Or are dragons considered magic users as well?

Btw, Tiki's new Breath of Falchion is just awesome.

literally every dragon says "Magical weapon" when u click on their icon but whatever i just searched it up and I was wrong, it's tomes only so apparently FEH sucks at labeling things.

Distant Defense - If unit is attacked by foe using bow, daggers, magic, or staff, unit receives Def/Res+6 during combat.

It's safe to assume that dragonstones are not the equivalent to "magic" at least in this case. Even staff units aren't considered to be "magic" weapons as they explicitly state each individual weapon, instead of classifying staves as magic. Magic in most, if not all, contexts in this game refers to tomes if I'm not mistaken.

If you can, however, provide an example where "Magic" can also refer to dragon units, then I will retract my statement, but I don't think dragonstones fit the description.

Merric - Excalibur refine = Effective against flying units. Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). If unit is within 2 spaces of magic or staff ally, grants Atk/Spd +5 during combat.

I'm pretty sure it's referring to Tomes and Staff units.

Thanks! Merric's new weapon sounds great in the right hands, but it's probably not enough to make for his terrible atk... I'm assuming that the weapon's Mt is still 14, right?

And yeah, I figured that if all sources of magic damage were included there was no need to mention staffs, and Dark Aura already covers dragonstones, so... I hope that Dark Aura get's a similar refinement sometime soon.

Yes, the mt is still 14, and it's actually a pretty cool refine, at least in my opinion. It's an invisible buff, so it stacks with other Spurs/Drives, and it stacks on top of visible buffs, like Hones.

Yeah, it's definitely a pretty cool refine. I mean... a slaying weapon eff + advantage against flyers + 5atk and spd? That's awesome! Unfortunately, given's Merric terrible attack and mediocre spd, his synergy with this weapon is somewhat poor... In the end, his new weapon is good enough to patch up his poor stats, but it's probably still not enough for him to compete with more offensive mages. My guess is that maybe he will go up to tier 3, but no more than that.

Eh, I find it to be enough. I have a +Spd/-HP Merric. With Fury 3, Attack +3 and his new refinement, he can reach 51 attack and 43 speed. Add in the mage/staff unit that's within 2 spaces holding a Drive Spd C slot and Drive Atk Seal, and he'll have 54 attack and 46 speed. Add in the possibility of a Hone Attack and Hone Speed from another unit, and he'll have 58 attack and 50 speed.

I just made myself even more excited for his refine. x_x'
