I want to try to get the Legion orb quests. So far I have only beaten the GHB on hard, and thus, have a 3 star Legion. Should I raise him to 4 stars in preparation of having him on my lunatic mode team? Or is there a strategy for beating it with him still at 3 stars (level 40ish)?
My Legion (level 40 3 stars) had a brave axe and I managed to complete the quest. I had my Bridelia hurt the Legion that appears after the first or second round near where you begin the match. Not sure if that will help since you do still have to beat the rest of the stage which can be pretty hard but that's what I did
Due to the respawn of 2 (or 3?) Legions there is a total of ~5 Legions you can kill with your own Legion. Even a 3* Legion can take one down if its lowered by another unit you use (Reinhardt did that job for me leaving one Legion at 3 HP). You can also use Brave Axe as Zahir said or Axebreaker. Cavalry Mages and Dancers makes it easy to kite him and lower his HP so your Legion can finsh him. Another advice that worked for me: Olivia with Ruby Sword can dance your weakened units out of danger and block some attack routes of Legion because she can take some hits of him because of triangle advantage.
I beat the Lunatic version with both, lvl.1 Legion and a sub-obtimal (untrained, 3*) Alfonse. In my case, Sanaki is my godsent. +Atk *4 Lilina ought to replicate similiar results with Axebreaker, assuming she can tank the Red Mage on the left.
A strong red that can deal with Legion is pretty much a must, along with a refreshing unit.
