Last chance to pull for the Muspell generals...

I've got 300 f2p orbs. Should I pull for them?

Their glory as arena bonus units has passed, but the banner has still nice orb value. I have few strong greens, so Helbindi would fill that gap for AA. I have a few red fliers, so Laegjarn isn't needed, but i like her as a character. Although modest (been playing for 4 months) I don't feel like my 5 star sword infantry selection is very lacking, but the bladesword is unique enough.

So, about the duel skills...

Some people preach that with 3.0 there will be an overhaul of the arena that will invalidate them, but since they just released Loki with another duel skill, i think no overhaul is going to happen - they are going to be relevant.

R duel flying - I have only enough caedas to +2 her.
I pulled very little colorless. The higherst merge I can go there is +3: Kagero, Saizo (probably better used as poison strike fodder), Clarine, Wrys (lol)
However, I have enough Sorens to +7 him.

I've come to realise I don't care much about Loki as a unit after all. I don't like her character very much I prefer Helbindi and Laegjarn - or units from other games. She doesn't seem as strong as the muspell units, not to mention that my free B.Veronica seems to be just flat out better. Her only use would be C duel infantry, and so far i have no units to merge there.. .although it seems that a +10 dazzling savage pain Azama would make arena laughably easy.
I do have 3 copies of L.Grima and I'm starting to thing that maybe going for the +10 would be a good long term project, grabbing some copies whenever there are other good colorless options in the legfest.

Haven't played SoV / Echoes, so Kliff doesn't make me feel anything. An unorthodox tanky mage is cool I guess.

Owain - I really like this over-the top guy. I don't like his design as Odin and his meme status performance deterred me from ever building him, but this incarnation of him seems crazy good - maybie even better than Laevatein. I'm not sure he's a good enough reason for pulling here, though - he might reappear on a legbanner with other great units...

About the upcoming Legfest:
As I previously said, I'm starting to want to go for a +10 F.Grima in the long run, so I might be pulling gray if the other units are cool too.
Bridal Ninian and L.Ephraim seem good enough of a reason to pull blue, as I have neither of them. I've got quite a few dancers now - all red ones bar H.Micaiah in fact - but they are all red and some variety would be nice. I've also got a very limited selection of good physical cavs - I promoted a +atk Ares... and that's about it. Still got Camus and Xander at 4 star, are they still worth promoting in late 2018? I haven't trained Walmart, neutral Frederick, perfect IV Peri and Roderick either - will be able to do work at 4 star lvl 40? I hope the last blue is either a strong infantry lancer or Hinoka. I have little of the former and need some hone fliers in my flying teams.
Green - I don't need L.Lyn nor B.Sanaki. Easy skip.
Red - depends on the legendary hero and his sidekicks. Can't predit this one :/

Other things that might be worth my orbs
- saving for NY.Azura - dancer + Hone fliers? Yes please!
- saving for L.Hector / L.Tiki for scoring - I don't even know if it's worth to aim to _10 them at this point
- pulling for H.Jacob - this one is hard. I've heard he is quite strong and pleasant to use but I dont want to fodder my only Hardin. He also color shares with H.Sakura. I got her in my second colorless stone and she's cute, precious and all... but kinda useless except for the ocasionnal mage check in AA.

This writeup is far too long and it seems to me that i'm rambling at this point. I don't even know anymore what I expect as a response, but I'll sure appreciate if you give me any :)

EDIT: I generally always pull on a legfest, at least until I get my first 5 star, and I think that's what I might do here. Looking at a budget of about 40-80 orbs

I recognize your username and I remember a bit of our conversations. Have you decided that you'll try for arena score, then? Because my sense is that the best thing you can do is make a decision, and if later you don't like it, you change it. If you're not sure now, my first question is whether you have either of the Muspell reds.

I have neither of them. Got Lene in my free circle and called quits for the time being.

I already ~sorta~ optimized my arena score by clumping together 3 5star amors of different colours and giving them assists, C skills, blessings and managed to get into tier 19 last week after 1hour of resetting.
But with no merges, I've dropped back to 18 again this week.

I've read your post bout cold hard economics of duel skills though and recognise tryharding for arena score might not be worth it. But it gives us something to do that's more objective and more easily theorycrafted than waifu pulling or optimizing for abyssal difficulty...

I've still got to clear the GHB quest for example, but haven't tried very hard. That might be another mid-term goal, to pull / build teams well enough to clear them.

K then I think you go reds on Muspell banner until you get one focus unit, green if no red stones, and then you take the orbs and run. They're both good units worth having, and you're getting a nearly unbeatable rate of 5* per orb because 2% + nonfocus.

As for goals, more important than easy is something that you really relate to, which means something to you at a deep level. What matters is that the effort feels really worth it. For now you might consider some merge projects that can get you scoring 710-718 plus bonus kills per match, which will let you into T20 every other week and show you some more challenging opponents. Then you'll be better equipped to try to figure out what you want to invest in for months and months

For our last (bigger) conversation (about fliers) I ended up pulling for SF!Nino. Cost me ~130 orbs, got a -atk F.Kana and mage Eirkia as well, so it's not too bad. Especially the latter's been useful on my mage cav team. No regrets there. :)

A few days before the brave redux trailer dropped I posted a Soren vs Sheena question on reddit and the most rational response seemed to be "wait for 3.0 , maybe pull moderately on the legendary banner, grab helbindi when he reruns if he or his duel skill are still relevant" - what do you think about that?

Congrats on the SS banner.

I like the idea of delaying the duel, but if you like special spiral or infantry pulse you might consider trying to get one copy now by grabbing all the greens while going for a focus red. And definitely delay foddering the duel skill. You can merge some unit that you will use regardless of duel skill, and if later you decide to commit to arena, then you give him/her a duel skill. Hard to go wrong with long-term strategies.

I ended up following this advice and got Leg yarn in 70 orbs going for both green and blues.

She has her worst IV though, -atk+Res :p

That's better than average if you were grabbing greens and blues. I'd be more annoyed about a spd bane frankly. This one you can go brazen atk/def.

So actually the average on this banner was lower for reds only than for double colours?

Usually multiple colours meant better averages if any of the focus will do...
