Laevatein +Hp -Def IV Question

I finally got a Laevatein. I wished I got her at +Atk, being the best bane, but knowing my luck, I'll have to settle for +Hp -Def, so I'd rather save up for the next banner now. Are these IV's good to work with or do they affect her stats in any detrimental way?

Also, what skills do you all recommend I give to her to make her a pretty strong offensive unit? Thank you in advance for answering my question.

Like, are you brand new to the game? Do you not yet understand the ins and outs of unit building? It isn't very hard, I promise.

As someone uses a Blade effect weapon, she should always have 6 point buffs, so a great partner for her is Titania who offers Tactics x3 with her support being the Rally for whatever option you don't have. She also acts as a green res tank with Triangle Adept, making her the perfect counter for mages and blue units, so running her with Distant Counter is great.

As for the girl herself, Laevatein has a few options, but it's all the same nonsense you've seen before. Glimmer/Aether/Galeforce, Death Blow/Swift Sparrow, Vantage, you get the idea. Just pick which best you like. I like longevity, so I would go with Aether and Heavy Blade Seal, but anything will do.

I don't know the ins and outs of the game that much. All I know is getting the "ideal" IVs' for certain units and some of the repetitive skills to inherit.

Alright. Thank you Daily for telling me the options for building Laevatein.

Ideal IVs are always nice, but IVs aren't as important as people tend to make them seem except when you're merging a unit to 5*+10. For that much investment, I think it's hard to justify NOT insisting on a good IV, but for an unmerged unit, it's usually possible to work with any IV including sour ones. There are a few borderline exceptions such as -atk on Felicia, who would lose most of her offensive potential except against mages (because the effect refine on her plate would allow her to activate glacies anytime she doubles), but all of these examples that I know of were marginal in those stats to begin with (ex: Felicia has 23 neutral atk, which is one of the lowest in the game). Super-strong units such as Laevatein are impossible to ruin witth a bane, but certain banes may cut off some of their potential (ex: -spd on Laevatein makes 2HKOs very hard to find except against slow units, but most of the units she would need two hits to get through are slow anyways)

About your IVs:
- Extra HP is not a bad thing unless she's trying to receive infantry pulse, in which case extra HP can get in the way. If you're a new player this is likely not an issue.
- She doesn't like the def bane. She actually has enough def to take potentially more than one hit. The extra HP helps compensate for the def bane just a little bit.
- Overall, you've landed yourself with an IV that's pretty close to neutral. It will function more or less the same as neutral IVs with most builds because atk and spd are unaffected.

The ways to build her can be classified into OHKO and 2HKO builds. OHKO builds seek to capitalize on how ridiculously hard she can hit on one strike (59 atk before buffs, which can increase her damage by up to 30 more from buffs - if you don't know where this 30 number comes from, please ask). Units with HP+def greater than 89 are generally armours, so a lot of non-armours will simply fall in one hit, especially if she activates glimmer or draconic aura.

2HKO builds I think are slightly more difficult to pull off because she's not actually that fast to begin with (especially without +spd), but there's a certain consideration to exploit: most of the fastest units in the game will fall in one hit if she gets buffed enough, so the second hit is mainly for armours or high-def blues.

For a relatively new player, I think I recommend 2HKO setups because OHKO builds can be a bit do-or-die sometimes and she will probably destroy everything she doubles. You can keep everything she comes with except replace atk/def link with desperation unless you're using a healer (Veronica is an amazing teammate for her), add the heavy blade seal, and add glimmer (I offer glimmer over draconic aura because it activates more frequently which is probably going to do more for you because at the moment you probably need her mostly for PvE. In arena draconic aura might be better because it's more consistent against high-def enemies and you'll see a lot of high-def enemies if you start scoring, like, 714+ per match. But you're probably not there yet.)

That's a lot of information to process Seeker. I see what you saying in regards to ideal IVs' and if it's going to kept at level 40 and unmerged. Honestly, and I know this isn't ideal, for all the units I like, I do wish at some point down the road to merge them for a +10. And I also think about maybe +10 units, such as Laevatein, with the IVs' I have for her since getting +Atk or +Spd & - Res isn't likely for me.

I think going for the OHKO seems more of my playstyle and not allowing enemy units to have a turn. I'll focus on PvE more seriously when I get a hang of the game. I do them like everybody else for the potential orbs. Thank you again for the help and info Seeker. I appreciate all of it.
