Kaihaku wants to know who to promote to 5*? (Black Knight edition)

A few days ago I spent 20k feathers to promote Adult Tiki...she's currently acting as a budget but very effective physical wall/Brave Lyn counter in arena assault...but she'll eventually be Lightning Breath+ fodder. Now that it seems that the Black Knight will be included in the Moment of Fate Tempest Trial I have another 20k feathers just sitting there itching to promote someone... Here are the top prospects!

Gwendolyn -SPD +RES: To merge over my current -HP +DEF Gwendolyn. I like 41 base defense but -HP hinders her ability to act as an Armor Emblem HP donation bank. +RES will be very nice once I inherit over Berkut's Lance+.

Henry -SPD +RES: To have some fun playing with for now...but the eventual plan is to inherit Rauðrraven+ to someone else (perhaps that -SPD +HP 4* Sophia).

Valter Neutral: To use as Panic Ploy fodder for The Black Knight. Probably would try him out with his cursed lance first to see how fun he is with it and if I want to promote another one just to use him.

Tharja -HP +SPD: To replace Katarina as my primary offensive Red mage. -HP is great for activating Desperation...but this option is pretty boring.

Hana ???: To give Life & Death 3 to the Black Knight... This is a rather boring option but I could make it more interesting by sacrificing a 4* Zephiel to give him LnD3 and Armorslayer+! I just don't know why I'd want to do that...aside from the fact that Zephiel getting sacrificed to the Black Knight is rather fitting given the power creep.

So what do you think?

Tharja is pretty strong and if your Katarija doesn't have Blade then Tharja is kind of better with this IV.

Other than that Valter is glorious and you should definitely go for him. Cursed Lance is op and his physical tanking ability is also very high and he's just an awesome guy all around. If you'll still think about sacrificing him even after levelling him up then I'll consider you to be completely heartless.

Katarina is still running her default tome. I didn't bother inheriting anything to her due to her bad IVs. However, I also couldn't decide who to give Swift Sparrow or Ploy ATK to so I just continued to use her in Arena Assault. But she is currently my only 5* Red Mage and I'd like to change that.

Is it sad that I love Panic Ploy more than Valter?

Tharja will be a good addition in that case. She's great, but kind of boring.

And it's not sad that you value the skills more than the character. It just completely differs from my playstyle which is typical with my refusal of sacrificing 5* units of which I only have one copy. It can be sort of mitigated in Valter's case since you'll probably still have 2 of them left that could be promoted afterwards as well eventually.

I went with Valter and Panic Ploy. Depending on how much I enjoy running him I'll promote my other copy to 5*. In any case, I keep a single trained copy of all GHB heroes for the repeats so Valter won't be going away.

Can confirm that Valter is awesome. I promoted all 3 of mine to 5* and merged, and my 40+2 Valter with Desperation totally destroys everything, barring units like Amelia and Hector. Mine is a more offensive build so it's riskier, but his damage output is insane. I still think his lance is one of the best weapons in the game.

I'd say promote the unit who you believe will give the Black Knight the largest improvement. I'm planning on 5 starring a Subaki to give him QR3. And then sacking a Chrom for Aether so his survivability goes through the roof. So, maybe 5 star that Hana if you believe that to be the best option for your BK. Or 5 star the 4 star BK to merge into him. Or QR3 for either the Aether build or a QP3 Black Luna near automatic win in his first battle every match.

I will say from experience that +Spd Tharja is pretty great with L&D, so that's a thought as well.

I'm thinking of running the Black Knight with Life & Death, Vantage, Panic Ploy, Black Luna, and Pivot. The key to this stratagem is that my Gwendolyn will always accompany him - she runs Renewal, Reciprocal Aid, and Hone Armor. So she'll boost his ATK/SPD to high levels, donate HP to him as needed, and wall for him in a pinch. This combo worked great for Hector but I like it even more on the Black Knight since he has an open A slot.
